Southeast Missouri starts its 50th season of softball with five games at the Southern Mississippi Black & Gold Challenge Feb. 6-8. UAB, Lipscomb, Louisiana Tech, SEMO and Southern Miss are in the opening weekend event.

Arguably the greatest player in Southeast Missouri softball history, Rachel Anderson was a four-time First-Team All-OVC pick. Anderson broke 8⃣ different single-season and 1⃣1⃣ career program records that still stand today.

Ashley Ellis broke Southeast Missouri's all-time career home run record vs. Murray State on May 2, 2021. Ellis ended her career with 53 home runs as the only player in SEMO softball history with over 5⃣0⃣ homers.

Since moving to NCAA Division I in 1992, SEMO softball has won 904 games, 443 OVC games, eight OVC regular-season titles, seven OVC Tournament crowns and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Outfielder Jodi Smith claimed First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference accolades in 1994 and 1996. Smith was named to the OVC's 75th Anniversary Team following her college career.

Outfielder Kelsey White was the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player leading Southeast Missouri to its first NCAA Division I Tournament berth in 1999.

Lana Richmond coached the Southeast Missouri softball program for 32 years compiling an 884-710-4 record. Richmond's teams won five OVC regular-season titles, five OVC Tournaments and made five NCAA Tournament appearances.

Mykaela Arellanes won the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament MVP award when Southeast Missouri claimed its first NCAA Tournament berth in two decades. Arellanes made the league's 75th Anniversary Team.

Second-seeded Southeast Missouri went 3-0 to win the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. SEMO defeated #3 Tennessee State and upended #1 Eastern Illinois twice to hoist the trophy. It was the program's seventh OVC Tournament title all-time.

Pitcher Christine Engelhardt got it done on the field and in the classroom during her Southeast Missouri career. She earned All-OVC honors on three occasions and was an Academic All-American a program record three times.

Southeast Missouri has never won 50 games in a season, but the 2019 team came close to that mark when it recorded a program record 46 victories under Head Coach Mark Redburn.

Utility player Jenny Doehring became the fourth player in Southeast Missouri softball history to win the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the year honor. Doehring claimed the award in 2001 and was First-Team All-OVC in both of her SEMO seasons.
