I was the guy that thought he was ready to go play D1 ball out of high school. Had multiple D1 offers, hit .500 in high school, etc. I was delusional.
I was 5'9 165lbs. I wasn't even close to strong enough, fast enough. I was a big fish in a small pond where I grew up. We branched out over summer & I always played well & stood out, but college was a different animal.
I had to redshirt my 1st year bc of strength ultimately. That almost ended me. Parents told me to suck it up & do something about it. Thank God they didn't save me. I wanted to quit, drive 10hrs home & be done.
Instead, I decided to die in the weightroom & eat. Gained 25lbs that year. Worked out 6 days a week, ate 5k calories. Made it to 190lbs.
That year changed my life, allowed my All- American year to happen, cape cod all star, get drafted, etc. All because of strength.
My challenge to you is to not wait until it's too late. Don't wait to wake up & work your ass off only when your back is against the wall. Make it who you are. Embody the work ethic always. Push to be the best you can be.
