Football players would be much better at tackling if they practiced year-round with only these types of drills. They need THOUSANDS of reps to understand how to use their body, maintain proper pad level and footwork, and learn how important it is to strike the ground hard with the lead foot to generate force.
This is an easy and far more effective way to learn tackling without pads while avoiding injuries.
Shoulder pads and helmets can hinder learning because they naturally cause the defender and runner to compensate upon contact. The focus ends up being on the contact, rather than FEELING the proper technique.
Using these pads thousands of times lets you learn what it feels like to absorb and deliver contact. Proper feet placement and force into the growing is a critical detail that I see few coaches understand or emphasize.
Game week work for England. Look like a focus on going low (giving away the gameplan?)
Number one thing I hear from coaches is players losing feet/no leg drive. It has to be focused on and trained. Have to Own that position so comfortable to drive
