Kirby Smart shares the two things he looks for in everyone who joins Georgia.
"The threat for us is complacency. The first thing you have to do is acknowledge that it's a threat. If you acknowledge it - that's the first step towards stomping it out."
Then he revealed what Georgia looks for:
"Do they love football? And do they embrace being part of something bigger than themselves? Are they selfless?"
"Those 2 qualities - loving football and embracing being selfless - are not dependent on outcomes."
It means passion and being willing to trust the process.
"We're not looking for guys dependent on outcomes. We want guys that think independent of outcomes."
"When you see complacency take over - it's when a team's enthusiasm and ego start worrying about outcomes."
"We want selfless people who love football. And that's what we build around."
Success hinges on doing the work, while complacency lacks enthusiasm and is full of indifference.
The moment you start protecting results instead of chasing them - that's when complacency creeps in.
