Always practice and train with purpose. Pick one or two things to work on. This session we worked on a consistent and straight path to the ball (big cones and sticks) and extending the follow through down the target line not and not “cutting” across the ball (small cone). Training aids like cones are invaluable to help the athlete remain consistent and visualize what we’re trying to accomplish. Recruiting tip: Specialists, what sets you apart from all the others? Why should you be offered instead of other specialists? In business it’s called a differentiating value proposition. What makes you unique. As a college kicking coach my inbox is full of 50, 55 and 60 field goals kicked off of sticks. Colleges are looking for specialists with all the tools in their tool box. Onside kicks, squib and pooch kickoffs etc. Punters, are you highlighting your speciality kicks? Long snappers, can you release and run a/o stay and block? Great information from Coach Lundy and @4thDownU and something younger kickers might overlook. A simple drill to gauge your height at LOS or trajectory is to kick from 3 yards inside the end zone toward the goal post. The crossbar is 10 feet high. Where does your kick measure? Did it clear and by how much? @punt21 @STLKickers
