SRNL’s Bill Bates met with Dan Yurman of Neutron Bytes to discuss the fuel cycle and backend of deploying SMRs and microreactors. Bates says talk about advanced SMRs can’t stop with deployment, rather, those talks need to include the entire fuel cycle.

We issued this as a recommendation to NHTSA after the same type of crash occurred in Williston, Florida, in 2016. Tesla has yet to respond to any of our recommendations from Williston, Delray, or Mountainview.

The facility includes 16 6’ x 6’ workstations with exterior walls made of 3-foot thick, high-density, reinforced concreate with an 1/8-inch-thick stainless-steel liner, and a 3-foot-thick cell shielding window featuring multiplate layers of leaded glass.

SRNL completed its first focused ion beam scanning microscopy lifts of grout as a new method to measure diffusion in ultra-high-performance grout. The fib-SEM is being considered for developing a high-resolution contaminant profile with grout samples.
