I feel like the answer to why there wasn't an equal amount of matter and anti matter in the universe is that everything we see and interact with is the remains of one virtual particle that got separated from its anti counterpart by sudden expansion of space. Thoughts?

Me: earth is a sphere Them: acktually earth is an oblate spheroid Me: Ok, true, but if I handed you two fist sized balls, one a perfect sphere and the other as oblate as the earth you would probably not be able to tell the difference by look or feel.

Oh yes, Phobos: a small moon with a low density that has 1.8 times the mass of earth.

Another kind of mistake I often see: it gives the bulk density for lead but lead shot is made of little spheres that don't pack perfectly together so has a lower density. It should give about 7.2g/cm since spherical packing is about 64% efficient.

If it weren't for the transiting of Venus. How much longer would it have taken humans to figure out the size of the solar system? What other method would be used? Radar?

How about determining the speed of light to a high accuracy and then timing the eclipse of distant moons? Of course this would require the assumption that the speed of light is the same here as in space, which I guess is also a problem for radar. 🤔 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RĂ…

If the moons of Jupiter (Io and Europa) are heated by tidal stretching does that mean the energy is coming from their orbit and will eventually cause them to decay and crash into Jupiter? Or are the orbits just becoming more circular?

This is why there is so much concern over gas stoves; you can't see the particles but they are there.

Chickens are in their new insulated coop! It was a bit of a rush job to get it habitable before the storm; I'll probably redo it later, but it's way less drafty than what they had. I also have an automatic door, but I'm still working out how to install it.

Cast a bronze branding “iron” (freeze branding) for my parents. Got the handle on before realizing it’s not mirrored. 🤦‍♂️ Oh well I think I can fix I just need to cut the handle off and weld it onto the other side.

I bought a bunch of cranberry sauce back at the beginning of the pandemic. Its 4 years old now but I've been working my way through it and the whole berry has held its flavor a lot better than the pulp free version.
