DEVILS There is something we must understand if we are to foster any level of civility, empathy, compassion, or justice: the citizens of a state are not the same as the government that commands its army. There is no joy in the deaths of Israeli civilians -- no more than there is in the deaths of innocent Palestinians or innocent Iranians. These leaders are devils -- all of them. Reasonable, just people can and must condemn both Hamas for its atrocities and Netanyahu for his genocidal response. Both of these can be true. We can support Israel’s desire to neutralize an oppressive Iranian regime without wishing harm on the generations of Iranians forced to live under it. We can forgive most people’s political leanings: we are shaped by history, geography, and the limits of our lived experience. But then we should demand rational, objective, detached consideration of many facts and be on the side of the innocent. The only path to peace is through rationality. The only path to peace is through detached, principled reasoning. The only path to peace is through deliberate forgiveness and a true belief in the possibility of tolerance. Tolerance means allowing one another the freedom to believe as we choose, without coercion or control. We can only be truly tolerant when those beliefs do not infringe upon our own right to believe freely. We need more detachment, more logic, more rational thinking, less histrionics and performance and hyperbolic frenzy! #IsraeliranWar #PalestineGenocide

I stand by the Iranian people, especially the women, who deserve a life of peace and freedom. It is absolutely vital at the AS and Israel have a plan that protects Iranians from the next Supreme Leader who is being decided on by Shiite Clerics.

What comes next in the #MiddleEast? What transition plans are in place to free the oppressed Iranians? Is it reasonable to celebrate the death of Ali Khamenei when the Shiite clerics will simply elect a new Supreme Leader? What will prevent the Shiite theocracy from continuing?
