The fire started in the rear of the property and spread into one side of the duplex.

Excellent work by our 3rd Shift crews this evening containing a fire that was quickly spreading through a vacant business off of Decker Boulevard.
Firefighters responded to the scene shortly before 8:50 p.m.
In total we had six engine companies, two rescue companies and multiple support companies and battalions on this call. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Richland County Fire Marshalβs Office.
After regrouping firefighters entered the rear of these building and the fire was fully extinguished. No one was found inside the building and there were no injuries.
Firefighters made entry and began extinguishing a good amount of fire in the roof area. Crews would then pull out of the building and fight the fire from the perimeter after seeing parts of the roof were beginning to sag.
Units en route called for a working fire dispatch after seeing a good amount of smoke in the air.
Upon arrival crews found fire blowing out of the front windows of the building and smoke throughout the structure.
