Almost done adding this scheduled block time feature The goal is that it'll help retention by only blocking apps when users need them blocked. The worst thing that can happen is people uninstall the app cause the 24/7 block was too restrictive. This gives them an out without having to uninstall. The design is meh, cause I'm planning a complete brand redesign. I want the app to be WAY more focused on being a fun educational tool.

Day 26 $8 MRR Here's another i made tiktok from this week. I definitely sped up my voice way too much trying to optimize for retention 😂. But managed to post for the last 4 days consistently and slowly getting over the cringe. Just gotta do it. The challenge with these videos is making them catchy enough to get views AND achieve some marketing objective. Im gonna focus on studying videos that accomplish both. Day 25 $8 MRR Getting out of my comfort zone this week and making founder led tiktoks. This is the third one i made this week and im already feeling better about making more. Tiktok is a wild new environment for me and there's lots of testing to be done. Do you make slide shows, spam ai gen content, or just ride what's trending? Im not quite sure, but high volume posting seems to be the only way of figuring it out. Decided to stop doing the timelapse posts... Started doing them cause I wanted some consistent ritual that involved making content but wasn't sure what that would look like for me. So I took some time yesterday to step back and think about why I want to build in public. And I settled on the idea that I am just here to share learnings, get feedback and meet cool people. What excites me most is strategy and creativity. So maybe i'll turn the camera on again one day and talk more specifically about those things. But for now I'm gonna commit to sharing more about what im building specifically, along with my thoughts around why im doing what im doing.

In certain contexts, I think this is true, but I also think in some contexts this can not be true. The value of UI/UX can often outweigh the utility value. People will use an app purely because of how it makes them feel (through design & UX), and because its good enough utility wise. For super heavy utility apps with little competition, design matters less, but in the modern competitive climate, design is often the great differentiator. Thoughts?

Day 24 $8 MRR App was rejected because of how I'm requesting permissions in onboarding. This wasn't flagged last review but got flagged this time around. Seems like a simple fix so got that in and hope we release tomorrow. Filmed a tiktok for the new account showcasing the new feature, but holding off on posting until we actually release. But it got me excited to get better at being on camera and selling stuff. Other than that, I knocked out some low hanging fruit to package with this next update. Cheers!

Day 23 $8 MRR Got a conversion from trial to monthly today 🔥 Finished setting up deep links so we can handle email confirmations/password resets on different devices. If user confirms email on their computer, itll redirect to braintime.app/auth/email-con… else it will redirect to opening the braintime app with their logged in session. Same goes with password resets. Gonna do my best to go ham marketing from here on out, but still a lot to build so will try to split my time evenly between dev/marketing.
