This is what leadership at a podium looks like. Texas’ offense had 179 TOTAL yards, as Arch Manning went 12/27 with 132 passing yards, but star Texas edge rusher, Colin Simmons, went to the podium post game and, well… just listen.

If you are an OFFENSIVE play caller designer, QB coach, etc… this is a MUST read (pass to all such ppl you know)! A great example for ALL COACHES out there of me of being with play designers who saw game like me & others who didn’t is the contrast of my career in STL & later years in AZ, vs my time with NY & start if AZ run… People look at those years as LOST years for me, years I forgot how to play (for some strange reason), BUT it was really about having coaches that couldn’t understand how I saw the game & what I was able to process! This DOESN’T mean any of those guys aren’t really good coaches, they just weren’t really good coaches FOR ME!! Sometimes you have coaches who can’t comprehend WHAT you are able to see and HOW you process all that INFO… and bc they can’t comprehend it, they can’t build an offense around it for you! So you get stuck as kind of a square peg in round hole, trying to make an O work instead of fully being able to play to your strengths! I was fortunate in the later years in AZ that Coach Wiz & Coach Haley - allowed me to build the majority of the O around what I was capable of doing and seeing, even though they couldn’t fully understand it all at the time! They didn’t just say “I don’t understand that” and do what they were comfortable with, they trusted me to build it and teach them bc I had the ball in my hands! Coaches I know u all know what you know & so it’s easy to always fall back on that, but but to be the best as a team you have to allow your QB (if he’s good enough) to help shape the O around their VISION or u will always be swimming upstream!!
