And that's it. The era of Pep Guardiola as Manchester City manager has come to an end. Words cannot describe the gratitude we have for everything you have done, making our dreams come true, and changing our football club forever. Pep, thank you. 🩵

The potential signing of Enzo Fernández is problematic for both fans of this wonderfully multicultural club in this brilliantly vibrant, diverse city and Maresca. ⠀ The player posted himself and his teammates singing a song racially abusing African heritage players playing for France. Fernández apologised at the time saying he got 'carried away'. ⠀ That doesn't cut it for me. ⠀ One can't casually get 'carried away' and join in with a racist chant if the racism is not festering there to begin with; one would and should be appalled and revulsed by it instantly. The first thing one does in that situation is be a man, call it out, and tell the people that are doing it that it's unacceptable, you shame them. ⠀ Lionel Messi was such a man. They didn't do these chants around Messi because he had previously scolded them for it. They deliberately waited until their captain wasn't around to sing this song. This calculated evasion satisfies the legal concept of 'mens rea' proving a total consciousness of guilt and a deliberate intent to do wrong. Fernández played dozens of national team games alongside Messi; he knew exactly what boundaries he was breaching. ⠀ Are the legitimate criticisms of Fernández's racism going to be addressed or just breezed past, ignoring the context of our Maine Rd roots? A location that has always been the first home of each wave of immigration since before WW2? In the city that dragged Oswald Mosley off the top of a bus and battered him when he tried to spread his bile here? In the city where the cotton mill workers unilaterally went on strike in support of Lincoln in the American war of emancipation? ⠀ I remember being about 12 years old on the Kippax (1976-ish) and some kid shouting "You black bastard" at an opposition's black player on the touchline. Within seconds he got a crack across the back of his head from a bloke who, impressively without losing the 'pecked' Woodbine stuck behind his ear, then took hold of the kid's shoulders and said "NOT at this club". ⠀ It is perhaps Maresca's first managerial and character test. This potential transfer comes with a turd attached that needs some serious polishing, and even then it won't shine and he could end up with shit all over his hands. *For the non Mancs and youngsters 'pecked' means half smoked and saved, it was a thing.

Some of my best memories in football are moments like this. Pure chaos. Pure joy. Pure Manchester City. 💙 This club has never been only about winning trophies. It’s about the people who stayed. The fans who believed through difficult years, empty moments, and tough title races. That’s why moments of success always mean more here. Right now the team needs that same energy again. Not panic. Not doubt. Support. Stand behind the badge until the very end, because if football has taught City fans anything over the years, it’s that everything can change in one moment. Keep believing. 💙 #MCFC #ManchesterCity #CityTillTheEnd

Ah man I'm absolutely gutted you know. Apathy is a curse on mankind, so I look up to people who unapologetically *live* their lives with intensity and passion. Pep symbolises that to me. I love that a man that brilliant, that successful is also that human and that emotional. It's a validation to live entirely in the moment and yet another example that we'd all be a lot happier if we didn't shut ourselves away so willingly. Enjoy the little things, embrace the people you love, make the most of your life. Pep is one of my heroes for these reasons. A genius, sure, but more than that, a truly emotional person who understands that life is for living. I'm gonna miss him so much. A truly unique man.

Thank you @PepTeam, sincerely. I know it's just football, but thank you. Thank you for it all. The immeasurable joys, the emotions, the entertainment, the songs, the tears, the moments spent with loved ones celebrating. I'm not sure I'll ever know what we're here for, but I often find that the closest I ever feel to knowing the answer to the big question is when I'm sharing incredible experiences with those I love. My dad, my mum, my wife, my children, my friends, strangers you embrace at a game or out on the streets at the countless parades. This past ten years has been blessed with lifelong memories. It's been thrilling. A rollercoaster of incredible highs and lows. We've felt alive. Watching City with fellow blues over the past decade has been intoxicating. We've loved every single second of it and I'm not sure any of us could have imagined just how joyous it would have been. Thank you once again, Pep, for bringing so much joy to this city. Thank you for so visibly caring, remaining true to yourself and thank you for adopting Manchester as your spiritual home. Your love for this city is clear. And we will always love you. Once a blue, always a blue 🩵 x

The obsession with being a “big club” or having more fans, stems from online supporters who don’t go to games and want bragging rights from their bedroom. I don’t know one proper City fan who wants to be considered a massive club, or cares about the amount of fans. We won the lottery, we have memories 99.9% of football fans can only dream of. These e-fans arguing about parades, celebrations, big clubs, are NEVER the proper match going fans.

This is getting silly now. The former synagogue was purchased by Muslims after it had been unused for years, and it is now a mosque. Whoever did it needs to be brought to justice, but this framing is very telling.

No, I hate landlords.
You don't hate landlords - you hate the consequences of a housing shortage caused by restrictive planning rules. You don't hate freeholders - you hate the consequences of building cost inflation, disproportionate fire safety rules, and having to make major decisions about your home with complete strangers.

We should be checking every single person entering into the UK that has served in the IDF for war crimes not crying they can’t attend a fucking football game, absolute muppets
This is the wrong decision. We will not tolerate antisemitism on our streets. The role of the police is to ensure all football fans can enjoy the game, without fear of violence or intimidation. bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…
