We were so excited and happy to join Augusta Onyeka (PhD student at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill) in New Orleans at the Society of Historical Archeology conference, as she presented a paper on our collaboration with her as she works towards her dissertation.

Iām making a thread on the various cultures throughout the US since there seems to be a lot of xenophobia and dismissal of bipoc groups in the US. Non Americans see us all as one white country with the same way of life or something and itās annoying so ā¦ here we are (š§µ):

We often assume that our ancestorās expectations of freedom post emancipation would be a western version, so we were happy to have Augusta to present what freedom would have meant to people of the Igbo culture and lineage
