Standing outside the former Arlington Park site, we officially launched our Independent campaign for Governor and an Independent movement in Illinois. We chose this site specifically. First, it's personal to my family. My wife and I were married there. We had our reception in the Governor's Room (ironic!). My family and company had so many outings there. My dad was a jockey there years ago. Second, it's a perfect picture of Illinois. The park's decline, sale, and tear down parallels the economic decline of our state. But the site's potential and ability to bring growth and excitement to the suburbs represents the massive potential of Illinois. Illinois is primed to take off if our broken political system stops holding us back. Together, let's make Illinois affordable and build a state where every Illinoisan has a chance to get ahead. (Note: the podium, good luck sign, and chairs are all from the old park.) #twill

Our system is broken because the anchors are in the wrong place. Politically, there are anchors at the two extremes. Get in line or you'll lose the primary and never make the General Election ballot. Governmentally, there are anchors at party bosses and special interests. Get in line or you'll lose your next election. The point of our independent movement is to drop an anchor at common sense and everyday people. That "anchor at reasonable" is how we fix things in Illinois. Watch @LakeForestPod as I join @CBpetej and the evil of two lessers, Rick Lesser, to talk about this and how we solve Illinois' problems to make life better for the exhausted majority. youtube.com/watch?v=BOtkF5bQ…

🗳️ Pop quiz: What percentage of registered voters chose Darren Bailey to be on Illinois' November ballot? Pete took the quiz. The answer? 4%. 🤔 "You would have one candidate chosen by 4% of the voters." 🎙️ Collin Corbett on the Lake Forest Podcast.

The only thing worse than paying the highest property taxes in the country? Paying those taxes to a government so inept that they can't even mail bills and process payments on time, costing our schools and other local governments well over $100 million...which, ultimately, taxpayers will have to make up.

Just stop making sense already!!
You're gonna want to be sitting down when you open your energy bill for June. Electricity rates in Illinois went up more than 15% yet again on June 1st. Turns out decreasing supply by closing cleaner natural gas plants too soon while increasing demand with data centers leads to skyrocketing costs for working families, small businesses, and manufacturers. Who could've predicted that? Many of us did. For years. But Pritzker cared more about lining up talking points for his national ambitions than helping everyday Illinoisans.

Does Governor Pritzker know about this? He said he was making it less expensive for Illinoans.

Yeah. That's why I said at least 15%, and likely more for most people. Some reporting for the ComEd territory has it as low as 15%, and I try to be accurate instead of just using max numbers to get max attention. But you are right, many will pay much more.

Your math is weak. The email Ameren sent me stated a 27% increase.

True. Talk to manufacturers, they will tell you one of the main reasons why Illinois has (had) some of the top manufacturing zip codes in the country is because we've always had cheap, reliable energy. But since Pritzker took office, we've wasted away that advantage.

IL is 60% nuclear, and the most nuke plants of any state in the US, it should have the lowest electricity rates.

Update on our petition challenge: the records exam is next week, starting on Monday running 9a-8:30p, at the State Board of Elections in Springfield. Like I’ve said before, we know every single one of our valid signatures, so this will be easy, but we need people to be physically present at each station during the review to defend our valid signatures. If you can join me and fill at least one three hour shift, let me know!

"The system is rigged against any everyday Illinoisan who wants to run for office," Corbett said. "Once I make it on the ballot, I'll be only the third independent candidate for governor in Illinois in over 80 years."
