Since Stealth(OP) randomly blocked me for no reason, I have to reply this way.
1. The Japanese name(Special) would have worked fine overseas. It was useful many times in western releases in the past with zero confusion.
2. Again, most likely scenario IS a port.

I'm going to tell you this with 100% certainty. Your thoughts on Smash will age like milk. I think the only reason Smash was titled Ultimate overseas was for people especially casuals to look at it as an ultimate experience. I don't think Japan's Special title would've worked.

The reason this is most likely is simply, it's been Nintendo's entire M.O. for the Switch 2. Port Switch 1 exclusives to Switch 2 with slightly improved framerate and resolution. No reason they wouldn't do so for Ultimate then add more DLC. Makea the most sense financially.
