It was a fun Induction Weekend at the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame. I feel bad for Lou DiBella, who had a plane to catch (which he made by only minutes), so he couldn't stay to get his FBHOF ring or to accept for Bob Arum, who is recuperating from knee surgery.

In 1979, I gave Ring Magazine's "Fighter of the Year" Award to Sugar Ray Leonard, who was 9-0 that year. I don't understand why so many feel this year it's Bud Crawford, who was 1-0. He gets "Performance of the Year." Fighter Award goes to 4-0 Naoya Inoue. @dougiefischer

I have been gutted today by the news that my longtime friend, combat sports journalist @tgerbasi (Thomas Gerbasi) passed away suddenly. He was on my SiriusXM show a few days ago, sounding thrilled as he talked about his new book "Boxing: The 100 Greatest Fighters."

I just visited the champ in his place. He will soon start his vacation with his family. He has 2 fights left with @RiyadhSeason in β26. We offered him to work with us until he quits and retires. The @IBHOF should change the category "Non-Participant" to a name such as "Contributor." I also believe two non-champions, @gerrycooney & George Chuvalo, should be inducted. No non-champ has ever carried as much popularity decades after retirement as Cooney.

Will you crazy fans stop with the rhetoric that Hamzah Sheeraz' handwraps were loaded & his gloves tampered with. You sound like Deontay Wilder after he was smoked the first time by Tyson Fury.
Fury beat Wilder that night, fair & square. Sheeraz did the same to Edgar.

I was just informed that "Elegant" Eddie Post, a popular figure on the NY Boxing scene, has passed away after a shot, furious battle v cancer.
We in NY boxing all loved the guy.
