Set on one of the highest points of the course, the 8th demands a considered approach. The green slopes heavily from left to right, with the back-left portion offering a helpful backstop for shots feeding toward lower pins.

Short, but mighty, the intimidating 143m Par-3 15th. Accuracy is key here, and the centre of the green is always a good spot to be

Bunkering that’s “tight cut to the green and typically Sandbelt” and putting surfaces described as “absolutely pure.” It’s how '26 Masters Champion, Rory McIlroy summed up Commonwealth during his visit last December.

The sandy loam soil of our Sandbelt locale provides the ideal foundation for layouts which lend themselves to spectacular tight-cut greenside bunkering and, thanks to this well-draining soil, year- round playability.

The 13th at Commonwealth is a true scorecard wrecker. Take the right line and you’re chasing birdie, even eagle. Miss it, and the tea tree and tricky lies quickly bring bogey (or worse) into play. Add a slick, very subtle undulating green and suddenly three putts are in the mix.

The view from the 1st green toward the clubhouse reveals the strength of our redesigned layout. Clean sight-lines, refined bunkering and beautifully shaped surfaces define this opening stretch, offering a glimpse of the strategic and visual quality that runs through the course.

A strong finishing hole, the par-4 18th offers multiple options off the tee — all rewarding considered strategy. Chasing birdie? It will likely require flirting with a fairway bunker to open up the best approach into this challenging green.

Few courses present green complexes quite like this. At Commonwealth Golf Club, the 15th, 14th and 4th sit in close formation, demanding accuracy and control. Handle this stretch of greens with six putts or better in your round, and you’ll be moving ahead of the field.

With the change of seasons, it may now be a little dark for the ‘dew sweepers’ to warm up on the range, but rest assured the practice putting green will be rolling beautifully before tee off.

“The changes made to the course are impressive because they strike a balance between a course redesign and restoration. You can feel Doak’s influence in the strategy changes and shaping, but the course still feels true to its original character." Lucas Herbert – member since 2009

Turf improvement, diversity in vegetation, and restoration of the lake – the three core goals of the works undertaken on the 16th hole. Swipe to compare with the 2017 version of the 16th.
