I came across a Facebook post where a blogger suggested that churches such as CCAP should release their buses to travel to Durban and assist our fellow Malawians who are currently stranded there. While I believe he has a valid point, but my question is where are our politicians during this difficult time?
Leaders such as Dalitso Kabambe and others should see this as an opportunity to stand with their people. They cannot simply sit back and watch while the DPP handles everything. They also have a responsibility to contribute and support those in need.
In fact, this could be the perfect opportunity for them to demonstrate genuine leadership and commitment to the people they hope to serve in the future. Rather than waiting until 2029 to begin campaigning for the 2030 elections, they should start showing now that they truly care about Malawians.
The government cannot do everything alone. Politicians, churches, organizations, and well-wishers should work together to help rescue and support those Malawians who are currently stranded in KwaZulu-Natal, Durban. This is the time for everyone to step up and make a difference.
