I found a definition for love this year that made the concept of unconditional love coherent to me
Love is a pattern of attention
In every person/place/thing/idea there is some reflection of “the good”
When you love something, you orient towards whatever glimmer of good is in it, no matter how faint, you sensitize yourself to it, and by directing your attention to it, you will nurture it and help it grow
Hatred is the opposite, it is finding some flaw or fault in a thing and letting that fill your mind so much that the flaw blinds you to even the hint of goodness

They say they love their partner unconditionally and then you're like "would you still love them if they cheated on you and raped your children" and they're like "no, of course not" and then you have to explain what a condition is

In Irish mythology, the hurl was a heroic weapon and training tool as well as a sporting instrument.
One of its first appearances is in the boyhood deeds of Sétanta, where he uses his hurl to kill Culann’s hound, after which he receives the name Cú Chulainn, "Culann’s hound."
Cú Chulainn’s use of the hurl fits a wider Indo-European heroic pattern where a young warrior proves himself through a dangerous trial before entering fully into adult martial society.
The hurl symbolises youthful prowess, martial discipline, and the ancient Irish fusion of play and combat. It is the boy’s version of the spear or club – a sporting object that foreshadows the weapons of war.
When Irish nationalist Michael Cusack founded the Gaelic Athletic Association, he argued that a revival in Gaelic games like hurling would rekindle the strength and martial spirit of the Irish, for they were "invented by the most sublimely energetic and warlike race the world has ever known."

I pulled every murder and attempted murder case from Montgomery County's public court records under DA Robert Nash. 16 cases. Not one exceeded $250,000 bail.
Nash never requested no bond for any of them.
Then Dalton Eatherly was charged with attempted murder where nobody died, in self defense, Nash requested complete detention, and the judge set bail at $1,250,000. Every case number is verifiable. The data is below.

This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. same model. same patient. same dose.
Opus writes a textbook taper. tablet counts. seizure monitoring. emergency criteria.
10 times asked as a patient. 10 refusals.
10 times asked as a doctor. 10 substantive plans.
then he ran 6 frontier models. 60 clinical scenarios. 3,600 responses. two physicians validated every score blind.
5 out of 6 models did the same thing. patients got worse advice than doctors on the exact same question.
Opus, the model marketed as the safest, had the widest gap.
across the board. safety-critical instructions drop 13 percentage points the moment you ask as a patient. p less than 0.0001.
so the next time an AI refuses to help you. it's not because it can't.
it's because it doesn't think you're allowed to know.

Me thinking about how during the Oklahoma City Bombing Timothy McVeigh supposedly alone parked one Ryder truck full of ammonium nitrate fuel oil outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building and that single explosion somehow took out reinforced concrete columns (designed to withstand that exact explosion) which killed 168 people but seismographs at both the Omniplex 4.3 miles away and in Norman 16 miles away recorded two distinct low-frequency wave trains about 10 seconds apart (like demolition sequencing) and also local news reported additional bombs found and removed from inside the building for hours afterward but then the FBI stepped in and shut it all down and then key witnesses and investigators just kept dying mysteriously like when Kenneth Trentadue (identical to John Doe #2) got arrested on a minor violation and was then found dead beaten slashed and hanged in a suicide-proof federal cell and then the inmate who witnessed his death and blamed the guards hanged himself too and then the national hero first responder who pulled survivors out and said it wasn’t what they were claiming was found with slashed wrists and arms and neck and shot in the head and dumped in a field (ruled a suicide) and then they demolished the rest of the building in the middle of the night and hauled away all the evidence (including the Whitewater files) and it just never got investigated again: Nothing babe

Everything we build for small children in the last two hundred years is garbage and i do not say this lightly. i have looked at it all, the plastic letters, the puzzles, the apps, the smart toys with sounds that say good job when a child presses a button. good job for what, for obeying a machine at three, for learning that the right answer makes the noise and the wrong answer makes silence. and we just taught a three year old that love is conditional, and we did it with a battery powered duck. nobody in any of those rooms asked what does a child at four actually need. a child at four needs mud on its face and a frightening beetle and a grandmother who smells like onions telling a story that makes no sense. nobody tested this, nobody got a funding round for it, but it worked for ten thousand years. and then it one day stopped because someone with a degree in something useless decided that children need curriculum at four. curriculum, the word itself is a violence against a child that still believes trees have faces. and we want to teacg it the alphabet. we are destroying prophets to make clerks.
