The technical ceiling of this Japan team is just a joke. Barely a misplaced pass, some excellent combinations. Feel 1 or 2 more physical options could do some damage in the 2nd half - Keisuke Goto and/or Shuto Machino?

The depth in this Japan side is right up there with a lot of second tier teams in the WC this year. Sano, Ueda, Kubo and Doan particularly talented, Zion Suzuki also a top goalkeeper.

Martin Adeline (22, 🇫🇷) has 10 goals and 10 assists in 32 Ligue 2 appearances this season. He's doing it from attacking midfield, right footed and playing to the left. He's valued at €10m. And almost nobody is talking about him. Born in Épernay, Adeline is a PSG academy product who came through Reims and spent time on loan at Rodez and Annecy before Troyes signed him permanently in August 2024. That move has turned into one of the quietly outstanding pieces of business in France's second division this season. What he offers is rare in a central midfielder - the ability to find dangerous positions inside the box consistently, combined with a passing range that creates chances at a level most attacking midfielders operating in Ligue 2 cannot reach. He scores, he assists, he finds the right angles. The combination of output across both goal and chance creation at his age is the kind of profile that does not stay in the second tier for long. The limitation is in his progression from deep - he is a player who functions best when the ball arrives to him in advanced areas rather than when asked to build through the lines. At the right club in Ligue 1, that is a manageable profile question. At a club that isolates him, it becomes a more significant one. Contracted at Troyes until 2027. Curious to have seen Kenan Yıldız (21, 🇹🇷) starting on the bench for Türkiye vs Australia - had a great season for Juve and did well in his cameo in the World Cup opener for his nation. Similarly for Can Uzun (20, 🇹🇷) - arguably the greatest talent of his nation after a top season and no minutes vs Australia.

Mateo Del Blanco (22, 🇦🇷) is one of the best young left-backs in South American football right now. Strasbourg, Lyon and Toulouse all know it - and reports in Argentina suggest a deal will be done this summer. Born in Santa Fe, Del Blanco came through as a left-sided midfielder before Unión converted him to full-back. The offensive instincts never left. He has spent the past three seasons running channels at left-back that most wingers would struggle to cover, using his acceleration and close control to get to the byline and create from wide. He crosses with exceptional frequency and his ability to find dangerous positions inside the box - arriving late, making runs in behind - gives Unión an attacking weapon that is disproportionate to what you'd expect from their defensive line. The profile is not without honest limitations. The volume of crosses does not always match the precision. When confronted by physical wide forwards who want to attack the space behind him, the defensive numbers reflect a player still being schooled in that part of the game. His passing under pressure could be more consistent. But that is the profile of a 22-year-old who has made over 100 appearances in the Argentine Primera División and is improving every month. Reports initially linked Chelsea with a permanent move before an immediate loan to Strasbourg - the latest update has Strasbourg leading the race directly, ahead of Lyon and Toulouse. He spent five years in the Porto B system, made the switch to Famalicão on a permanent basis in 2024, and has since played every significant minute of their Primeira Liga campaign. 29 appearances, consistent, contracted until 2027. Going forward, he offers something different from most right-backs in the Portuguese top flight. He attacks the space relentlessly, gets to the byline, and his delivery is accurate and high in volume. He also finds dangerous positions for a full-back - arriving late, making the extra pass - in a way that a team trying to unlock Championship defences would value. The hesitation is on the other side of the ball. Against physical opponents who want to run at him, he can be exposed. His aerial contribution is limited, his defensive duel numbers are moderate, and his involvement in build-up play from deep is passive rather than proactive. In the Championship, where wide attackers carry the ball at defenders for long periods, those questions matter. Born in San José de Mayo, Cabrera joined Danubio in 2025 and has been their most direct attacking weapon. Right foot, right wing - a player who has made the byline his territory. He does not wait for the game to come to him. He picks up the ball and runs at defenders, and he does it relentlessly. The pace of his decision-making, the frequency with which he beats his man and gets to the cutback position - it is a profile that physically and technically demanding leagues reward heavily. He is also a creator, not just a carrier. The final product is there. What makes the profile unusual for this level is the defensive contribution. He tracks back, he wins the ball, he works. The complete package is not something you expect to find in Uruguay's first division going largely unnoticed. He is 22 and contracted to a club with limited European reach.
