Today, @NVIDIA is widely recognized as the most consequential technology company in the world. But when Founder and CEO Jensen Huang hatched the idea more than three decades ago, it was viewed as little more than an incredibly risky bet on a new approach to computing. How did Huang, an immigrant from working class roots in Taiwan, build this company into what it is today? In the first installment of the Hoover Institution's Only in America series, @CondoleezzaRice sits down with Huang to explore why his rise—and that of NVIDIA—couldn't have happened anywhere else. 04:42 Jensen Huang's journey to the US 07:54 Jensen's experience at boarding school in Kentucky 14:23 How Jensen came to Silicon Valley 17:23 Founding NVIDIA 23:40 The evolution and growth of NVIDIA 27:08 Sustaining motivation amid challenges 29:01 America's exceptional tech sector 32:28 Why Huang is a "cautious optimist" on AI 35:10 Jensen Huang's Only in America story

As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, we have a unique opportunity to reflect on the enduring relationship between freedom and human achievement. To explore this, the @HooverInst has launched a new series that I am privileged to host, "Only in America." Throughout the series, I sit down with some of our nation’s most accomplished innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, and business leaders to ask a simple but profound question: Could your success have happened anywhere else? For our premiere episode, I visited the NVIDIA campus to talk with my friend Jensen Huang. Jensen’s journey, from coming to America as a child to leading one of the most consequential technology companies in the world, perfectly embodies the spirit of this project. We explored the experiences, opportunities, and institutions that shaped his remarkable journey, from the vision that led him to found NVIDIA and the perseverance required to navigate years of uncertainty and skepticism, to the future of artificial intelligence and America's role in advancing it. As Jensen put it: "I am the embodiment of the American dream." I hope you will watch this first episode and join us for this season-long exploration of the American idea in practice.youtu.be/ZEL0EAVtCTY

Writing in @WSJopinion, Hoover Institution Director @CondoleezzaRice argues that the war against Iran, though limited and likely inconclusive, has achieved enough to produce a far better Middle East—and that time is on the side of the US and its allies. wsj.com/opinion/what-the-u-s…

This is a new day in the Middle East, though it isn’t one without clouds. Strategic patience is hard, and it isn’t always satisfying. But time is on the side of the U.S. and its allies. My thoughts on what we've accomplished in Iran: wsj.com/opinion/what-the-u-s…

Congratulations to our next Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Kevin Warsh who was confirmed today by the U.S. Senate. I have known Kevin for most of his adult life. I first met him as a student in my international politics class at Stanford University, and it was clear even then that he was exceptional. Kevin is uniquely suited to serve at this moment. He is battle-tested, principled, and brings the breadth of judgment this role demands. Just as important, he understands how deeply international relations and monetary policy are intertwined - a reality that will only grow more consequential in the years ahead. He is the right person at the right time. On behalf of his friends and colleagues at the Hoover Institution, we wish him well.

America will soon celebrate 250 years since independence. The experiment launched then should have had little chance of succeeding. Yet here we are, still standing, the best testament to the power of freedom that human history has ever seen. Now, it has fallen upon us all to write the next chapter, as we respond to a new set of challenges to the American ideal, at home and abroad. thefreedomfrequency.org/p/fi…

It was a pleasure to sit down with Armani Williams recently for a wide-ranging conversation. In the run-up to America's 250th anniversary, a forthcoming American Creed series interweaves stories of "extraordinary, ordinary" young leaders to helps students understand America’s foundational principles and institutions, and develop the skills responsible civic participation requires. Never before have so many technologies advanced so quickly, or with such far-reaching consequences. The question before us is not whether these changes will occur, but whether they will unfold in ways that strengthen or undermine freedom, security, and human dignity.   A new edition of the Stanford Emerging Technology Review is now available, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence. The latest report surveys the state of key emerging technologies and their implications, harnessing the expertise of leading faculty in science and engineering fields, economics, international relations, and history.
Hoover Institution Director @CondoleezzaRice reflects on a new edition of the Stanford Emerging Technology Review and why informed decision-making on emerging technologies is essential for freedom and America's future. Read more in Freedom Frequency: thefreedomfrequency.org/p/a-…

Please find an update from my dear friend and colleague, Hoover Institution Senior Fellow Victor Davis Hanson. He remains in our prayers: "I wanted to share a brief health update. I recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and am now recovering. I’m doing well and hopeful as I move forward. Thank you for the many messages of support and prayers—they truly mean more than I can say. As I focus on recovery, I may not be able to respond to everyone, but please know how grateful I am." -- Victor Davis Hanson

For the second edition of the George P. Shultz Memorial Lecture Series, @FederalReserve Chair Jerome Powell, Hoover Institution Director @CondoleezzaRice, Senior Fellow Michael Boskin, and Uncommon Knowledge host @P_M_Robinson assemble for a wide-ranging conversation on the economic mind and legacy of George P. Shultz. From his early career as a labor economist at MIT and the University of Chicago to his battles in the White House cabinet over wage and price controls, the closing of the gold window, and the inflation that defined the Nixon and Reagan eras, Shultz emerges as a rare figure who fused intellectual rigor with political pragmatism. The panel explores how his beliefs in free markets, personal integrity, and "trust as the coin of the realm" shaped his actions, from collective bargaining and desegregation to global diplomacy—right up to his famous economic tutorials for Mikhail Gorbachev in the Kremlin. This is a timely look at how one man's economic philosophy helped steer American policy for half a century. Watch the full episode of @UncKnowledge on X:

The United States of America is not united by ethnicity, nationality, or religion. We are united by a creed—a belief that it doesn’t matter where you came from, it matters where you are going. A core element of the American Dream is that you can come from humble circumstances and do great things, and this dream has attracted people from every corner of the earth. But in order for a nation built on such an idea to hold together and thrive, that aspirational narrative had better remain true for all of its people. The future of our country—whether it is our security, our prosperity, or indeed our social cohesion—all rests on the access of every child to a high-quality education. It is the great equalizer—the holy grail that has the power to change lives and lift the human spirit in ways that nothing else can.  My latest on the transformative power of education: thefreedomfrequency.org/p/st…
