Almost all of these people are fleeing conflict or persecution, oftentimes those conflicts involve weapons sold by the UK to governments on the UK's own human rights watch list. The financial gain seems as ever to outweigh the human cost.

The current conversation about a 'crisis' of refugees crossing the channel to seek asylum in the UK is entirely misleading. The real crisis is not the porous state of UK borders but the fact that desperate people are willing to risk their lives trying to find safety and shelter.
