The Golden rule (treat people how you want to be treated) is out. The Platinum rule (treat people how they want to be treated) is in. Support looks different for different people. This applies to communities too. Instead of assuming what support looks like, just ask!

You have to stop tolerating unhealthy behaviors from people that repeatedly cause you to violate the boundaries you've established for yourself. When you do this, it disrupts the healing journey you began.

Did you know that photos of baby animals make your more productive? I swear I learned a lot more than that from @NonprofitAF about changing philanthropy, but that's a cool fact. So great to hear you challenging the room at #cagp23!

Sometimes you see people after a while and they spend a lot of time talking about how you don't meet often enough and ask why you don't see each other more and it makes you not want to meet again for a while.

Imagine the positive impact we can have on the world if we choose to reflect more than we judge, and to contribute more than we criticize.

A player collapses on the field and it takes the leadership a whole hour before stopping the game, even while teammates from both sides were devastated. This is why we need to reset how we do things. People over profits.

I get the cis women instinct to write toothless platitudes on the internet of the "if you are trans and alone this Xmas, I'm your mom now" variety. But that didn't do anything. What would be more helpful is: 🏳️‍⚧️ if you loudly proclaimed our humanity all year round;

When you receive a lot of charity campaign appeals as we approach year end, please remember that they're just trying to fund important work they are doing like increasing access to food, affordable housing, or providing social services.

If charities didn't ask, would you give? If that were actually true for everyone, we wouldn't need fundraising. But it isn't, so kindly just delete or unsubscribe instead of trashing all charities.

Also, 30 companies just sent you emails asking you to buy things for the holidays, and if that didn't bother you as much, please ask yourself why that is.

Your periodic reminder that charity will never solve what public policy was meant to address. The generosity of strangers is not a substitute for good public policy.
