1986 my first watched everyone intently since (vast majority of games at all). This is the most unexcited I’ve ever felt for a WC 😩

What a player - that Cameroon game in 1990 took some whacks that day 😂
Only true football fans will remember this baller.🙌🇦🇷

An under rated defender as well he’s intelligent with his positioning and as a result doesn’t have to constantly recover/be on the stretch
Pau Torres. Arguably Emery's best signing when you think about how important he is to how #AVFC play out from the back. It was going to take a special player to take that spot next to Konsa and Pau has done it with class. How he's not in the Spain squad again I'll never know!🇪🇸

I am floating!! I dreamed about lifting a trophy around Birmingham for 8 years but that was special!! Let’s make sure it’s not the last time Aston Villa are in centenary square!! This isn’t the end this is just the beginning!! UTV 💜💜

Fantastic season for George most of it age 16. After nearly 2 seasons battling a health issue requiring heart surgery he truly found himself again. ➡️ U19s - played 23 = 25⚽️ 15🅰️ ➡️ Trained 1st team everyday Dec - Mar ➡️ Scored 1st senior goal against strong step 3 side

That’s an excellent response fair play to him 👏
🚨📲 Cole Palmer on IG after being left out of the England World Cup squad. "Football can be cruel sometimes, but that’s the game. I’m obviously gutted not to be part of the squad for the World Cup — it’s every boyhood dream to represent your country on the biggest stage. I’ve poured my heart into every opportunity I’ve had with England and I’ll keep pushing to earn more. Credit to the lads who’ve been picked; they’ve earned it. I’ll be supporting from home, working hard at Chelsea, and making sure I’m ready whenever the call comes again. Good luck to the boys — go bring it home for England."

Unai Emery's Villarreal beat Man Utd in the Europa League final(2021), give us the total wages per year from that time for one team and the other?😉
Aston Villa's total wages per year - £179,120,500 Freiburg's total wages per year - £59,461,362 Not taking anything away from Villa. But, there is more to football finances than just transfer fees. The Prem is operating on a completely different financial level right now! 🤯

Height doesn’t matter but early maturated kids all the rage, most abandoned by 16,17,18 as everyone caught up. My son was told by a cat 1 aged 7 (late bday) that won’t take him for u9 as won’t be big enough to be a defender he’s 16 and 6ft 2 now
Academies asking for parents’ height to help predict the future physical profile of a player… Is this really the direction youth development should be going? Physicality matters, of course. But would players like Vitinha or João Neves have been selected in some systems at younger ages? Or would they have been overlooked because they were “too small” or “couldn’t get around the pitch” early enough?

Isn’t this just the food chain?! Wolves do exactly the same to clubs small than them with youth players. If the pathways were better at clubs then players stay - MGW the only genuine wolves academy player to make 1st team in many years

An incredible ending for our u16s winning the JPLs premier competition the National league cup. Credit to Woking, an outstanding opponent. Some very talented boys past and present have played in this group over the past 5 years. I’m excited to continue to observe their journeys

I could tell some stories and comments about this with my son being a late developer physically. One u16s lead coach telling him ‘ your technically one of the best in the whole Acadmey but I’d find it hard to give a scholarship to you because of your current size’ then said -

“Never tell a player they’re aren’t going to be big enough” HUGE problem we have is ‘we’ are judging kids at 12,13,14,15 as if that’s the final version when in reality you don’t get the final version until early 20s
