Copenhagen Suborbitals is a crowdfunded non-profit suborbital human space program, crewed only by volunteers working towards human spaceflight in our sparetime.
June 15 - Valdemarsdag 🇩🇰
Legend says Dannebrog fell from the sky in 1219. Ours is built to go up - and come back down slowly, under parachute.
World's oldest national flag. World's only crewed amateur space program.

This day in 2011: HEAT-1X launched, making history in our quest for crewed, crowdfunded spaceflight by proving:
🚀 Sea launch of 65kN hybrid rocket
📡 Manual flight termination
👩🚀 Clean separation of human-sized space capsule
🚢 Capsule recovery at sea

This day in 2018 we successfully performed the World's first human skydive test under a triple-cluster parachute with 2 stage unreefing. We'll use a similar system to recover our crewed Spica rocket booster, so this was a significant milestone. Video: bit.ly/3crzzwp⠀

Test cancelled today.
Turns out we forgot to pay this month's No-Clouds license fee, so the Gods of Angry Clouds rolled in and cast their spell over HCA Airport.
Slim chance tomorrow. If not, we'll lock in a new date soon.
GO for parachute test. Weather's clear - tomorrow we test the Valkyrie Ring Sail main again. Copenhagen Trackers rides along in case it wanders.
A parachute can wander. It cannot hide.

On this day in 1961, Alan Shepard flew 15 minutes suborbital and became the first American in space.
Blue Origin named their rocket after him. We're building ours from scratch. We're just volunteers.
Same destination. Different path.
