Not a good time to be in the physical product business.
As if things weren't challenging enough for us small businesses to stay afloat, these tariffs are going to put so many businesses under.
Even though we currently manufacture in the US and our (very high) costs are going to go up even more.
I don't think people realize that consumers are going to pay for this.
Maybe I should start a software business.
People who are ripping up Allan today need to go outside and touch grass.
He's an insanely talented designer who understands the game. What he's built is a fun and engaging content play that attracts clients to hire him for his services, where he has to deal with all of the aforementioned pressures of being a designer.
It's a smart top-of-funnel strategy and actually shows his ability to think quickly and generate ideas. It's clearly working, he has tons of high-level clients like Target and Star Wars. I'd bet he has a hit-list of clients he WANTS to work for and uses this as a form of outreach.
What if instead of complaining, you created?
Today on Brand New (Linked): Are @AllanPeters' logo āfixesā of popular logos a good exercise? With no client, no deadline, and no real-life challenges the results may be fun and possibly good but are they realistic? underconsideration.com/brandā¦
Higher Ed is in a weird place (at least with creative fields). AI aside, Iām doing my absolute best to keep up in an ever changing industry, do all the admin/committee work, and teach. Doing more student office hours than ever and still making it through only 2/3 the content.
And to top it off, Iām getting worse evaluations because everything is too difficult, or too fast paced. Like, Iāve already slowed things WAY down. What did you expect?!? Itās WORK. And while the software isnāt always easy, so much is getting easier with every release. š¤·
My career was on a different trajectory (3D, Motion, education), but I feel like Iāve grown up with these folks who Iāve never met, but Iāve followed their path for 20 years.
With all the recent layoffs and extremely talented people looking for work or leaving the industry, it really makes me question my passion for educating the next generation. Am I just feeding the machine? Off to the wood chipper for you!?! Seems untenable. #deepthoughts
Grabbed a screenshot as G-Man hit 737 views on his 737 simulator vid! Most successful video so far, but heās been killing it!
This was in a full size 737 simulator in Gurnee and not his home @MSFSofficial@elgato setup. Shot on @DJIGlobal Pocket 3. šŖāļø

Proud dad moment: donāt know how a 13yo flies experimental plane Mach 10 LaGuardia > SFO in 30 minutes, but he made a believer outta me. Kid knows his stuff and while #msfs is ājust a game,ā the realism and detail is incredible. How can I support him? youtu.be/GDXjeFsjzCE?featureā¦
Stoked for @HalfRezChicago tomorrow! Hope to see and hang with cool folks I havenāt seen in too long.
Iām still using the classic HalfRe6 decorations as my filming backdrop for video lessons. Time for an update? Is there a HalfRez museum archive? Itās living history!
I built my own PC when I was ramping up freelance in ā08. Did a pretty big upgrade around ā12, but reused some components. I moved to this house in 2015 and other than adding hard drives, havenāt done much. Still runs like a champ! @Razer less than 4 years. @Alienware barely 5 š
Now I realize that tech moves fast and 5 years may be reasonable for the lifespan of a PC, but my 11-15 yo machine still runs circles around this Alienware. The Razer was a very good machine, but it ran hot and died young. And long-term support for both sucked.š«
Apparently my clout with 1000 followers on this dead bird site doesnāt mean much if I canāt even move the needle on my kidās YouTube channelās view/sub count! š¤£
Whatās the point of being a parent if I canāt impress my kids with how online I am!?š«
If I canāt get him to 100 subs by October, Iāll have to actually buy him a gift. Honestly, I think heād prefer 100 subs! š

Happy Friday! If youāre into #aviation or looking to encourage an aspiring pilot/YouTuber inspired by @Swiss001yt , give my kidās channel a look, a like, and a sub! Heās made 20 videos in 7 months and heās going great, but heās excited to learn and grow. youtube.com/@gmanaviation726ā¦
And other than being a proud dad and helping to spread the word, because heās not in social media yet (holding out as long as possible), this is ALL HIM. When he needs help, Iāve given pointers on Premiere editing, Photoshop tips, and I made his logo, but I stay out of his way.
