I had a HUGE snake I was trying to relocate living under my driveway- but he’s FAST. Couldn’t catch him. I try my best to let nature happen and protect the animals around my house, but I know a snake can smell my wolf dogs and then when it crosses into their territory (past the fence) it’s out of my hands. Doing a lil study on an iPad without my emotional support brushes (working with base brushes) and getting frustrated is so eye opening when as an artist I use to be the MOST confident in my line art, but now feel like I just gotta sculpt everything out until it feels right. That being said this 2 hour portrait speed up shows all the mistakes that a 12 hour painting really doesn’t show. - so enjoy the struggle. It’s so funny to watch such a short paintings video results but I also love it. If I go further with it with my brushes I’ll update it. Where I stand right now (and if you read all this- I have much better books i can recommend with better plots <3 ) MAJOR BRAIN DUMP/journal leak: I’m so torn right now so forgive the brain dump but I want to be transparent on where I am with all this. I've not been streaming it, but i also don't want to state that as definitive. Reasons? 1. Solidarity with the partners who have stepped down (I don’t want this to be a "move on" thing and then they’re left after a sacrifice by themselves.) 2. Number spikes- I didn’t want to take advantage of potentially benefiting myself off of other people’s sacrifices.(lots of people stopped for a few days --and names I’ve never even heard of rose to the top of the charts) 3. Promoting something still in discussion- I needed time to see what the situation was but also- I don’t want the game to die- but it’s a hot topic right now (more on this later) 4. The month of May for me is St Jude’s. Ive committed my efforts to that charity and I didn’t feel right streaming the game for children in the state it’s in. Here’s why I would stream it again: 1. The shittiness of a few individuals shouldn’t punish other people who worked on the update. The art team, sound team, devs, etc- this was all forced upon them. Their ability to fire someone is as good as ours. And for them this isn’t a streaming partnership- but their jobs/livelihood - the way they support themselves and their family. We want answers but I’ll stand on that I don’t think these people have those answers (or could share them if they did) and they should not be casualties of this. 2. I don’t want the game to die. It’s a comfort game for me; and my community. If you look at the end goal for all this- if it doesn’t actually get justice and simply kills the game- then does in some sick way Bruno win? Not in my book. We should be able to sail and enjoy this world while he rots in prison, free of him and anyone else that wants to prey on children. 3. This isn’t a black and white situation. There is so much grey area. Cancel rare and it affects all the people who work there who didn’t want this, support it, do anything wrong, etc. in fact (ruffle some feathers here) not even all the CMs are bad. The people guiding them, hiring them, watching for years--these people are simply bad at their jobs and letting it slide- yeah those people should probably go. I’m not throwing shade at anyone streaming sea of thieves right now. We were all united I thought, and then fingers started getting pointed everywhere. (Internal sabotage imo.) I LOVE this game. I love this game more than I’ve ever loved a game. I’ve been playing off stream just for the "home sense" and I’ll be honest, I’m highly unmotivated to stream anything else. I built streaming on sea of thieves. But I have to hold to my own convictions. And I want to be true to my community and what I stand for. But canceling the game does a disfavor to the people who did no wrong. The people putting their talents into this game and then getting bulked into this. Bruno doesn’t get to win. He lost his access to a game he loves and used to prey on children with. We should confidently take back that space. I’ve yet to stream sea of thieves since the info came out, but that’s not permanent. I’ve been giving it space to respect the victims, the people who sacrificed their partnership, and make a stand. With all the bickering and loss of plot tho I feel like these very small stances (like my own) are muffled. I said before I can only see one side to this- but that has changed. My heart feels so much for the victim (who will be effected by this for the rest of their lives) and also for the teams and individuals that didn’t ask for this to be their legacy in their work. Take it out on the people involved, but understand when you bulk a company as a whole you bulk people that thought they were doing the best they could. It’ll probably be years before anything legal is done, for now tho- (for me) if I stream the game these are my stances: 1. I am in no way forgetting what happened or moving on 2. I refuse to bully people in a company who aren’t guilty and had nothing to do with it 3. There are very specific CMs I think are simply bad at their job whether they knew what Bruno was doing or not- (but also some that are good at their job and remain professional) outside of that and the general CEO and command side that CAN control things- I cannot hate people who ended up being casualties of others actions. 4. Investigations and punishments are going to take years. We have a duty individually to both understand that and understand they can’t tell us what’s happening. We can either let the game die, or stand for the game we love and make it a better safer space for the community to heal after such a horrendous person infiltrated OUR world. Hi everyone I've been travelling this last week so I have not been aware of what's been going on in the SoT community until last night. I wanted to be the best informed that I could before sharing a statement and I also wanted to be able to sit down and give this situation the time & attention it needs. First and foremost, my heart was absolutely broken reading about this horrible situation. I fully stand with the victims (and I stand with any other victim that has not felt able to speak up). I also want to highlight the bravery it takes to even share your story with ONE person, let alone the entire internet. By doing so, that is the first step to making a change and protecting so many other children, and that is something to be incredibly proud of. I do not wish to make this situation about me (and neither should anyone else), however as someone who spent many years working to support countless victims of CSA and grooming in the UK and advocating for survivors, I wanted to share a few things that I feel are important and relevant as I've been seeing some absolutely wild takes online surrounding this conversation. It is NEVER the responsibility of a CHILD to protect themselves. We, as adults, have a duty of care and responsibility when interacting with children ESPECIALLY when we have a position of power. By carrying the title of "boatswain" or "SoT Partner" or even simply being a content creator, we already have a power imbalance and a lot of people do look up to us, including children. This is such an important responsibility to have and should NEVER be used to manipulate others. Whilst I definitely think parents should try their best to educate their children about online safety, I do not believe it's right to put any blame towards them. This is just blame shifting. Sea of Thieves is a game that does have children in the playerbase and that is always something to consider. I've seen comments trying to defend this situation saying age doesn't matter within gaming. Do I ever come across kids when playing SoT? All the time! They are allowed to enjoy SoT/gaming just as much as I am. But I do not, or never would even consider inviting them to a voice chat, sail with them regularly, create a friendship with them or even have a private DM with them. ESPECIALLY if I know their age. That just crosses so many lines. I also want to make it clear that I do not believe in silence when it comes to this matter. So often cases like this get swept under the rug or never reported in the first place. I am glad to see so many people speaking out, making statements & having these conversations no matter how difficult it is. People have a right to talk about this, to share their outrage and to condemn the actions of abusers. My content majority of the time focuses on good vibes & having fun, but I will never hesitate to speak out when needed and highlight the importance of this topic. I never take my platform for granted and I have always wished to use it for good, so I will continue to do this and fight for the changes that we want to see. I know a lot of others have spoken in detail about the laws in the UK and how companies have to go through investigations "unbiased" and cannot comment online about ongoing cases (@BehavingBeardly worded this perfectly in his post). So, like a lot of other partners, I am watching and eager to see what happens and hopeful to see a change that is so desperately needed going forward. Right now, I do not plan to step down as SoT partner, as I said I would rather use my position to fight for change and use my platform to advocate for good. Going forward, I believe anyone who has any form of platform or association with Rare needs to be fully vetted and background checked. Stop fighting each other or using this situation to promote your hatred towards other community members and instead direct your anger where it's needed and continue to spread awareness and keep each other safe. We are stronger together. Lastly, I will be doing a charity stream at some point in the next few weeks to raise money for @barnardos which is a charity dedicated to supporting children and families affected by CSA & Grooming.
