Farmers are totally perplexed 1950-1990 cheap food 1990-2010 oh shit that crashes nature 2016 green BREXIT 2020-23 public goods for public £ 2024 not quite enough £ 2025 we’ve lost interest - can you do cheap food and nature with no funding? This wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card
“ well son when I was your age we used to call this nature friendly farming. A wonderful blend of nature thriving alongside healthy nutritious food that was a benefit for all”

Greenland White-fronts leaving Islay on a NW flightline over my house this morning. This is the only time that they fly over in this direction in any numbers. Volume up.

To grow food, we need nature. The UK Government must increase investment in nature friendly farming. #NatureCantWait Sign and share the petition. action.rspb.org.uk/page/1561…

Barnacle geese arriving in to the fields this morning. Alongside 3 other goose spp, 4 spp duck, 4 spp of wader displaying (🤞redshank back any day now too). 33 whoppers heading North overhead. Waiting on our first real spring migrants to arrive (LBB gulls barely count!)

66 barnie rings read before they flushed to the other end of the field. Lots of new birds from our catches in February alongside some from last year and a smattering of Icelandic and Irish rung birds. A few old faithful Greenland white-front collars too just because!

Much rarer than white rhinos and in the midst of (another) dramatic population decline and yet very few people are talking about this and even less conservation action happening. Well done @NatureNorthEast for a cracking shot and for giving this amazing bird a bit of limelight
Only a few weeks left before our Greenland White-fronts head back north. Another year, another decrease in our wintering numbers, with only 3 juvenile birds observed amongst the flock. Here’s hoping they have a more productive 2025 breeding season. 🤞 @RSPBScotland The Oa

Shame on you @Keir_Starmer The choice wasn’t between funding the NHS and a tax break - a staggeringly ill-judged explanation You just killed the last vestiges of any social contract with British farmers Well done to the farmers who blocked him in today - escalate it

Jeez… this is some Orwellian doublespeak if ever I saw some Almost everything green is now co-opted and abused for dodgy ends It is so depressing Nature restoration funding is now for speeding building of roads, houses and airports?

Replying to @SteveReedMP
🏡Our Nature Restoration Fund will speed up the building of the new infrastructure and homes across the country 💧Securing £104bn of record levels of private investment to upgrade our crumbling water infrastructure to support the building of homes, datacentres and gigafactories
