I think you’re projecting what you think. Look at any social, shows, podcasts and everyone is talking about Wemby. Just like with Lebron, the good and bad generate content that everyone watches. He is clearly the biggest name in basketball right now
What a brutal couple of weeks for Wemby was viewed as the undisputed next "face of the NBA" as a loveable, kind, cerebral superstar. Then came a massive flop in the Finals. And his shitty attitude, dirty fouls and lack of accountability/respect (walking off the court without shaking hands) were even more damaging to his reputation than his performance on the floor

If Wemby didn’t shake the Knicks hand as an anomaly, then yeah it would be an issue. But since his rookie year Wemby doesn’t shake hands after games. Every now and then he does but generally he doesn’t. Didn’t shake OKC’s hand after beating them either. So whether you agree or not, Wemby was being consistent with what he does so none of what Draymond said makes any sense.
Draymond on Wemby not shaking hands with the Brunson after the Finals: “Look your killer in the face… if you leave the court and you don’t look me in my face and I just beat you. I actually know that I own you forever.” (via @Money23Green, h/t @GothamJD)

RT @fembanyama: Grown ass men win a championship and the only thing on their mind is their 22 year old opponent

Let’s be honest. We knew his hype wasn’t gonna last. People didn’t expect him to be this good this soon. But we all knew once he started winning, people would start hating on him. Happens to all the greats. We couldn’t care less. Let others continue crying and may he continue to win more
They hate Wemby because they're scared of him. They just don't wanna admit it.

Decade?? Here’s a not so hot take: Wemby will have at least 2 titles within the next 5 years #GoSpursGo
I’m still a firm believer that Victor Wembanyama will lead the San Antonio Spurs to a championship within this decade. 🤷🏾‍♂️

That’s what 8 years of losing in Sacramento will do to you…but hopefully this Finals loss reignites a fire inside of him and we see the old Fox next season
No way De’Aaron Fox cared more about losing in the Elite Eight than losing in the NBA Finals There’s just no way.

And yet his games had the highest viewing numbers 🤔
The NBA tried to protect Wemby throughout the playoffs thinking they could force him onto fans. It never felt organic. All the league accomplished was to show how overrated he is and make fans hate his game. I have zero interest in watching Wemby or Spurs basketball.

I think he and his coaching staff did an incredible job and he’s proven he’s the right man for the job
Do you believe in Mitch Johnson as the coach of the Spurs

Spurs Life retweeted
Draymond Green lecturing other people about sportsmanship is as hysterical as it gets. Zero self-awareness.
Draymond Green: “Wow they didn’t shake their hands… that’s not good"

That’s because this is an anomaly compared to what Fox has consistently done in the playoffs
Spurs FC always on Fox dick but never talk about this trash ass nigga

And you could hear it in his broadcast. I understand he’s human and it’s hard to hide your bias, but as the series went on he made less and less effort to hide it
Mike Breen: "I feel so happy for the fans. I've been a fan since I was about seven years old. I've been a Knick broadcaster for more than half my life. So I've been around Knicks fans forever... For them to have a night like this is wonderful." (@WPIX)

13 likes and counting on this tweet…Twitter really is the Mecca of misinformation
Got a generational playoff whistle, bricked clutch shots for five games, tried to injure guys, had an objectively terrible offensive series, took no accountability as a leader of his teammates.

None of these three players impact the game the way Wemby does. If Wemby and the Spurs are healthy, they’ll at least make the WCF the next 5 seasons
“They’re so young. They’ll be back.” I’m hearing the same things I heard in 2012. There are no guarantees in professional sports.

We saw how much Vassell improved with a healthy off season…let’s see what Fox can do with it…again, I think he deserves one more season in SA
1 thing about De’Aaron Fox: he didn’t have an offseason last summer. As soon as he was cleared from surgery on a finger that ended his 2024-25 season, Fox pulled a hamstring in July that put him on the shelf for rest of offseason & first 8 games of the season. Nuance.

Going from stuck in rebuild to having a superstar that Twitter makes up their own stories and fantasies about…I used to pray for times like these ❤️
Wemby is just mentally weak. This whole persona that he has built over the past few seasons is just not who he is. It was easy to keep up the act when the pressure wasn’t there, but the playoffs have exposed him. Time and time again.

Year 3 comes to an end and wow! What a season! We started with Play In expectations but in that first game against Dallas I knew things would be different. Wemby showed great improvement in his conditioning and strength. It was a big reason why we went as far as we did. The OKC games, the Piston game, and Clippers comeback and so much more! What a season to remember. And his first playoff run just blew my mind. I honestly did not think we would get to the finals but wow! He raised his game in the playoffs to another level! Everytime our back was against the wall he responded! And boy did he make it entertaining: the concussion, the elbow, the hard fouls, the crazy Game 1 3 against OKC. I still can’t believe we have such an amazing player playing for our team. And now that he’s going to have Dylan and Castle around him…look out! Year 3 is now in the books. Can’t wait for the next one!

Another year gone in a flash! I can’t believe still that this guy plays on my team! I’m going to cherish every moment! Thank you Wemby for an incredible 2nd season. It was unfortunately cut short, but had some amazing moments! Can’t wait for more!

I think Wemby has shown many times in this season and playoffs that when he wants to be, he can be the best player in the world. But the first step towards greatness is consistency. He has to work on his offense as well. He’ll get there and it won’t take long
I've seen a few people claiming Victor Wembanyama is the best player in the world in the wake of the Finals (I suppose that boosts a Knicks championship that doesn't need any boosting), but I don't know how you emerge from that series with that take. Top 3 or 4, sure. But best? Wemby showed way too many weaknesses on offense (the more important half of basketball) to own that distinction.

lol it most certainly isn’t
So this is Keldon Johnson’s last season as a Spur, how do you guys feel?

Bucks? 👀
What team will De'Aaron Fox be on next season?

The WCF went 7 games while the ECF went 4 games. The brutality of the WC did play a role in how fresh the teams were for the Finals
The East wins the Finals for the 4th time in the last 8 years. We can be done talking about how uneven the conferences are.
