The Games Industry is not some desirable dream job with a great work life balance.
- More competition then any other job.
- You will have to work harder for just a chance in this industry then any other job.
- You will not matter to the company you are so passionate for.
- Salaries are pretty shit compared to other industries that are far more accessible and family friendly.
Despite all of this;
I would choose this industry over and over again if i had the choice.
It is my dream job and i know any other more comfy industry would not full fill me like this one.
The success you can celebrate with your teams.
The people you meet and create strong bonds with.
The feeling of finally shipping a game you poured all your passion into despite noone but your peers recognising it.
Seeing kids and Adults lose themself in the worlds you helped create and having a positive impact on their life and forget the material world for just a moment.

Like yea, if it's not as important to you then you don't have to do this.
It might also be true that it's "unhealthy" but it just is true that putting in an absurd amount of time is pretty much a requirement.

For 3D students: Most I’ve met simply aren’t doing the hours needed to get into the industry. Studying only 10:00-16:00 every day won’t cut it - particularly since only a portion of the day is spent on actual work.

Time spent actually doing it is the MAIN factor of improvement. There are other factors that play a role, but volume is just the main thing that will determine how much u improve.

Part of the reason why learning japanese is hard for English speakers is because y'all treat kanji like root words rather than learning the word in context. Imagine not speaking English and trying to rote memorize lead vs lead, wind vs wind, bow vs bow etc without context
