Well deserved. James was anointed the King as a high schooler, and met expectations. I can’t recall another athlete who handled that kind of pressure any better. I can’t think of another superstar whose personal brand was as pristine as James either. Respect 🫡

LeBron James wrote the blueprint for exceeding expectations. Here’s how our first-ever TIME100 Sports cover star redefined the modern athlete: time.com/collection/time100-…

I don’t understand why the Spurs allow Castle to run point. He is a walking turnover when at point.

The refs are laissez faire tonight which favors the Knicks

Interesting comment. The lobbying for Congress to intervene has been anchored in NIL & the transfer portal, not gambling.

NEW: NCAA President Charlie Baker on Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby's ruling: "There is no better example of why targeted intervention from Congress is necessary. When you have schools and deep-pocketed supporters willing to look the other way on the glaring integrity threat of betting on your own team - and judges whose rulings effectively strip away our ability to stop them - only Congress can equip the NCAA to apply this common sense rule to everyone fairly and consistently. The Protect College Sports Act would empower the NCAA to enforce rules including the gambling restrictions - it's needed now more than ever." on3.com/news/judge-grants-te…

It’s important not to fold this into NIL or Transfer Portal.

I couldn’t agree more.
"Nick was never publicly tapping the brakes when he was the highest paid coach or there was a facilities building war!" @colincowherd reacts to Nick Saban's comments to Congress about the state of college athletics

One of a few things I don’t like about the Protect College Sports Act is that the NCAA would have authority to approve/disapprove athlete endorsements
More opposition to the Protect College Sports Act. An item that needs correction: the NCAA already does (via the CSC) control college athletes’ ability to do endorsement deals. The bill would extend that oversight to deals between athletes & schools.

They should ask Saban, under oath, how many players he paid in the pre-NIL era. He was happy driving his Ferrari down a never-ending exclusive road lined by brown paper bags of cash until NIL came into play.
As he begins his testimony, Nick Saban says, "If you had the biggest, baddest Ferrari and it was going 100 miles an hour toward the Grand Canyon, we need to tap the breaks. I think that's what we all need to do here."

Notable costs since NIL went into effect on July 1, 2021: 📈Housing 27.2% 📈Food 25.3% 📈Gas 32.6% Yet, Saban & politicians are burning calories on the rising cost of NIL. Our priorities are not in order!
Nick Saban, discussing collectives, outlines what Alabama was working with Says he had $2.7 million in his first year of NIL, then $7 million, and then $10 million. After he retired, he said it jumped to $17 million, then $24 million. “Now you have schools at $40 million”

Absolutely WILD! Those who follow me know I’m a player advocate (NIL & transfer portal), but I don’t like when pro athletes are granted eligibility.
