The frowning crowd on God of War: Laufey is blaming "disny-fication", yet the ribbons and the sword are mythological representations of talismanic decoration, where the significance of the ribbons are woven through mythology. They represent graceful elegant protection made conscious in the everwhen. Literally, the inanimate properties of the ribbons to "bind" the sword to a character, to protect but also to lash out, is given a "personality". It signifies the merging between life and death, where every animal or mythical symbols can exhibit lifelike properties, those become companions to Faye who already resorts more to magic, whereas Kratos uses "tools" It merges many traditions where certain fabrics like silk , or wearing dreadlocks, or tatoos are given transcendent importance. So I wonder why this wouldn't have any place in a GoW game ?
And I don't understand the criticism against a cosmic cube that holds that sword, depicting the responsibility the wielder holds and the faint tongue in cheek humor that comes from him punching an enemy to the side.
A lot of the same people who criticize this , think a spongy square looking guy living on the bottom of the ocean is funny... They don't call sponge bob "woke"....
Because of all these additions GoW: Laufey enters in a more esoterical magical realm with the fierce warrior that Kratos has always praised in the last 2 games. I'm interested.
The symbolism of a cosmic cube holding a sword, and that cosmic significance getting his own consciousness is the same mystic projection from the environment on the ribbons i guess.
It's the expression of how important the sword is, and that's why he's carrying it, and Faye can carry it, and because the everywhen is an mosaic of mythology, that sword could as well be excalibur. I just don't understand why people think this is the disnyfication of GoW.
They only want to explore the mythological weight when it involves Kratos, but the counter balance with feye seems too light hearted. But it's exactly what made me interested in a GoW game, for the first time.
