Last year we carved out the Black Poplar Pond. Today, rain channels were dug for the new Perry orchard @BlueBarrelCider planted earlier this year, shaping a pond & butterfly habitats seeded with food plants for some of our rarest pollinators. Thanks to everyone who helped π§π
Weβre grateful to @ASTRAZENECAUK volunteers for their hard work today: planting 100 trees, creating a pollinator patch & wildflower meadow, and harvesting pears for the community. A fantastic collaboration for people & nature π³ππΈπ #Community#BeesNeeds#SaveCotonOrchard
Huge thanks to @PolysolarPV for installing their @The_RHS Chelsea Flower Show silver medal winning agrivoltaic greenhouse in Coton. Transparent solar panels generating electricity for our tools and irrigation system while growing plants for our pollinator patches. π±βοΈπ
Thank you @tomjksn and @BBCCambs for visiting Coton Orchard to see our new solar powered Pollinator Patch. πβοΈπ§π Sunshine for power, rainwater for plants, and a little more space for pollinators and people to thrive. π» Listen back: 1:28:13 & 3:40:3 bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002w5β¦

These tiny creatures, going about their lives unseen, hold together systems far larger than themselves β systems on which we utterly depend
When they falter, it exposes a deeper truth: that our dominance over nature is an illusion, and that care, not control, is what sustains us

April showersβ¦ in Mayπ§πPurple phacelia, also known as beeβs friend, in @CambridgePPF fields. Much needed food for pollinators and a fleeting wash of late spring colour, while we wait to hear whether the County will be granted the powers to throw this corridor under a busway π
