Congratulations to Jen Lab Ph.D. student Jack Johnson! His paper, the Role of Methanesulfonic Acid in Sulfuric Acid–Amine and Ammonia New Particle Formation,
was published in ACS Earth and Space Chemistry. Learn more about it here: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…
Congratulations to Jen Lab alumna Dr. @SandraFomete! Her paper on Ion-Molecule Rate Constants for Reactions of Sulfuric Acid with Acetate and Nitrate Ions
was published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry A. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…
Two weeks ago, Dr. Jen and students Jack Johnson, Wendy Flores-Brito, and Dominic Casalnuovo gave presentations at the 40th Annual AAAR Conference! It was great to meet with other researchers in the field and share the exciting research going on in the Jen Lab.
Students Farrah Haeri, Darren Cheng, and Wendy Flores-Brito presented posters on their research. We look forward to presenting our progress and new projects next year!
Congratulations to Jen Lab Ph.D. student Christine Troller! She received the Steinbrenner Fellowship and passed her qualifying exam in the same month!

Jack Johnson, 5th year PhD student, presented at the International Aerosol Conference in Greece. He presented his recent research on methanesulfonic acid’s role in sulfuric acid-base nucleation.
Congratulations to Dr. Sandra Fomete who passed her dissertation defense on June 27th! Dr. Fomete will be starting at McKinsey & Company in the Fall. She will be missed but we are excited to see the amazing things she will do!
There have been new additions to the lab too! We had a new PhD student, Christine, join the lab. We also have a visiting PhD student, Michel, from the Tecnologico de Monterrey, and Jing, a rising sophomore, who are researching with us this summer.
