Europe’s public finance is off track: The @EIB
props up “competitiveness,” the wealthy military complex & polluters’ “clean energy” projects—missing a green, just economy.
But what if we flipped the script? We ask @yanisvaroufakis 👉 bit.ly/41HAOod

The @EIB funds massive projects worldwide, and when those projects harm communities, people can file a complaint to its Complaints Mechanism.
The EIB is now rewriting those rules. Some wins:
✅ More independence
✅ Clearer procedures
✅ Early dispute resolution tool
But communities still need much more.
The new policy still leaves gaps ⚠️
🔗 Indirect financing through intermediaries (banks, funds) is not clearly covered
🚫 No sanctions when companies ignore recommendations
🌍 Outside the EU? A lack of transparency on what gets financed
A complaints mechanism should be a last resort. The real question is: why are so many communities harmed in the first place? 🤔
Because the @EIB's due diligence is too weak.
Better complaint rules won't fix bad project selection. The EIB needs to get it right from the start.

Unless the EIF clearly demonstrates it regularly monitors the investment funds and companies it backs — and intervenes in case of breaches — history can easily repeat itself, just with a European company next time. 🇪🇺⚠️
