July 3, 2023 - Monday night five people were killed and several more injured, as a gunman opened fire in the Kingsessing section of SW Philadelphia.
Among the MULTIPLE children injured by gunfire was a 2-year-old who was shot four times in the legs.
The five deceased victims are:
Daujan Brown, 15
Lashyd Merritt, 20
Dymir Stanton, 29
Joseph Wamah, Jr., 31
Ralph Moralis, 59
These innocent people had their future taken away from them, their right to life taken away from them, by a guy who wore a bulletproof vest & used an AR15-type gun.
They weren't the only ones who lost their lives during the 4th of July weekend, many more innocent people lost their lives because of guns.
During a press conference, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner had this to say as he wrapped up his speech:
First, he blasted Republican legislators insisting that they are "against [voters'] safety."
"Finally, I just want to say this: it is disgusting, the lack of proper gun legislation that we have in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,"
"It is disgusting that you can go to New Jersey and find a whole list of reasonable gun regulation that we don't have, that you can go to Delaware and there's almost as long a list of reasonable gun legislation that we don't have,"
He then took aim at Republicans who have recently worn AR-15 lapel pins. George Santos (NY) & Anna Paulina Luna (FL) have worn those lapel pins as a sign of support for the 2nd Amendment. Who put on those lapel pins after the Nashville School shooting?
His words to them:
"It is time for everybody and our legislature, including the ones who would like to walk around with an AR-15 lapel pin," Krasner said. "It is time for every one of them to face the voters."
"And if they're not going to do something, then voters are going to have to vote them out because that's what that lapel pin means. It means 'Vote me out. I am against you, and I'm against your safety.'"
Perhaps it’s time for them to face the families of those killed & wounded, and explain to them why they wear the pins & support the guns, instead of supporting the innocent American People being killed by their guns.
The death of our fellow American Citizens should not be a political issue, but unfortunately, the Republicans have made it one with their refusal to do anything about Gun Reform.
If you want change, if you want common sense gun reform, and want the senseless killing of innocent people, the children in school to stop, and the Republicans refuse to do anything about it, then vote them out.
