Wembley history beckons for Warrant Officer Class 2 Andy Halliday MBE. He becomes the first soldier involved in ceremonial duties, delivering the FA Cup and medals to the Royal Box today, who has also officiated in the final itself. Halliday was assistant ref in the 2016 final between Manchester United and Crystal Palace.
His final duty as a soldier after five decades’ service is to represent the Army FA at the Cup final along with RAF Warrant Officer Richie Killick and Major Andy Glanville from the Royal Navy. Halliday officiated in 338 Premier League matches and the 2019 Carabao Cup final between – Manchester City and Chelsea. Great servant to the Army and to football 🫡
