Utility Update, June 11: Ongoing power outage on the north side of town due to storm damage; @CretePoliceNE and Electric crew responded to make sure the area was safe and to begin repairs to downed lines; more info will be shared as it is received.

When thunder roars, go indoors! 🌩️ Did you know that no outdoor location is safe during a thunderstorm? If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Seek shelter in a sturdy building or a hard-topped vehicle immediately.
Your chance of being struck by lightning greatly increases when remaining outdoors during a thunderstorm. Lightning can strike from up to 10 miles away. Some of the activities people were doing when they were recently struck by lightning include golfing, boating, running, grilling, walking, construction, riding, gardening, and swimming. When thunder roars, go indoors! See a flash, dash inside!

A little Fire & Ice in the forecast with extreme fire danger forecast for today and snow in the forecast for Thursday. Use caution to avoid starting fires today, and be prepared for slippery conditions on Thursday.

Snow is forecast for Thursday with a greater than 80% chance for 3 or more inches of snow across a swath from Albion to Storm Lake, IA. Snow begins Thursday morning between 6am and 9am. Heaviest snow expected between 12pm and 6pm. Snow ends between 12am and 6am Friday. Expect slippery spots on roadways. travel may become more difficult in rural and unsheltered areas.
