Alabama looked all out of sorts at the plate today. From the poor approaches to the ineffective results, the Crimson Tide were held in check all game long.
Coming into Omaha, the offense appeared to be hitting its stride. Today was a different story.
Alabama went 5/30 and scored no runs. While the pitching was certainly subpar, the hitting was far worse.
Charles Schwab Field typically favors teams that hit for power. Oklahoma hit the ball well today, but they had one home run. Nothing unworldly.
Their bats were certainly hot, but it did not dictate the outcome of this game.
Alabama’s inability to work counts, make solid contact, and get runners on base was the ultimate downfall.
While this one definitely stings, it still isn’t the end all, be all. Pitching is critical, but the bats being absent must change if Alabama wants any chance to stay alive. That’s the bottom line. Roll Tide!
