im starting to suspect that ideas spread through people for the same reason that memes do - that people are basically cuntsluts for ideas. just as it takes the right amount of lube to goon, it takes the right amount of novelty to get an idea to replicate in someones mind. too little and its droll and there is no friction to hold attention. too much and its too hard for individual thought constructs to map and there is no traction. but just the right amount of weirdness anddropout and ideas fuck just as seamlessly as MPs. exactly what IS the mechanism of idea fuckin? what makes somethings stick? is there a theory of memetic viscosity? how do we make ideas that spread widely but retain Alexandra's 'fection' - viz. how do we make them contagious but not too much? note that ideas which spend most of their time in the head do not get the same level of 'scrutiny' as ideas which are constantly being ejected and ingested again; contemplate how the internet is changing the way we think about this. anyway, that is all. shoutouts to tielen ( Gurwinder ) for a great conversation around this today. oh and one more thing - if ideas fuckin is fundamentally a function of the groin of our collective unconscious, what are the spent ideas that get shat out? are they basically what we call 'norms' - things so taken for granted and as evident they do not even need to be thought about any more. ie 'the earth is round', 'god exists', 'outgroups are bad and should be discriminated against', 'slavery is bad' etc? anyway that is all. god bless, goons
