At Cunningham's Law Review we're taking a chronological journey through the last 100 years of popular music from the 1920s to now, one year at a time, in order.
The same people that crap on Ariana Grande for having a chorus that says fuck me til the daylight will, in the same voice wax nostalgic for Prince who had the line 'Lets get to rammin'' in one of his choruses.
Miss You Much by Janet Jackson might be the best pop song that is and ever will be. It's been 30 years and Rhythm Nation in general is still fantastic.
One of the funniest people #SNL ever produced is gone, but will never be forgotten. I've spent many an hour on YouTube over the years enjoying all the characters he gave us. In a word: HILARIOUS.🤣Thanks for a lifetime of laughs @normmacdonald. #RIP 💔
New Lorde album is good, but not great. A couple songs in I was trying to figure out what was missing. It's commentary on California wellness-culture, but compared to Pure Heroine (brilliant), this takes a bird's eye view and offers less personality. That offers little room (1/3)
for introspection, replacing it with (still accurate) social critique. So then you replace the production sound with "stripped-down" acoustic guitar and you get the new album trying to replace private introspection with the appearance of it. Anything you say w/ less effects (2/3)
has got to be more personal right? It leaves me with the feeling that the commentary unintentionally ends up being a satire of itself by presenting a pseudo-Pure Heroine w/o the magic of the original. Hey, this one has better press narrative and makes you feel smart though. (3/3)
You’ll never be this young again
You’ll only get older, watching yourself decay falter & sag until those who you thought loved you pack you into a roach infested nursing home where you’ll be packed nuts to butts up against the other living corpses before you die alone
Eat Arby’s
There is no labor shortage. There are plenty of people able to work. The difference is that they are not willing to work jobs where they are underpaid, disrespected, and helping prop up falsely low prices for restaurants. A chicken sandwich shouldn't cost a dollar.
Watching the Taliban take back Afghanistan while the disinterested ANA soldiers just give up without a fight is the most predictable thing I have ever seen. We should have left in '03. What a massive waste of time, treasure, and lives. Just wait until we do it again.
“Today’s decision is the third installment in our epic ACA trilogy... In all three episodes, with the Affordable Care Act facing a serious threat, the Court has pulled off an improbable rescue.”
@HamillHimself The reference here is impossible to ignore. Impact on a massive level
Yeah I get a good buzz going and listen to Miami Sound Machine. Because I'm cultured. What do you do on a Wednesday?
Falling in Love (Uh-Oh) is in dire need of a cover FYI. The original is excellent but it's an untapped gem.
Y'all. Any reporter who is telling you that the new Danny Elfman album is anything more than self-indulgent hard to listen to prog rock with no soul is not your friend.
It's all tension, no release, all technique, no feel. It's art house videos and art house music.
Nine Inch Nails, Girl Talk, and Louis Prima are cordially invited to my dream @Spotify dinner party. I hope they get along and that Louis Prima is somehow not a corpse. #OnlyYouopen.spotify.com/only-you/sh…
