Discover Atome: Key takeaways from our call 1. Turning power into food. Atome’s core idea is simple but huge – use Paraguay’s surplus hydropower to produce green fertiliser. Power is the feedstock; water and air do the rest. Brazil is the world’s largest fertiliser importer, and Atome’s location gives it a cost and logistics edge. 2. A $630m flagship project is taking shape. The first plant (“Vieta”) will produce 260,000 tonnes a year, generating around $70m EBITDA (Atome will own a 20% interest in the project) at today’s prices. 3. Offtake and partners locked. Yara International (43% owned by Norway’s government) has signed a long-term take-or-pay offtake for everything Atome produces. Engineering partner Casale has agreed a fixed price EPC contract, rare in today’s inflationary environment. 4. A market with scarcity value. No new fertiliser plants have been built in Europe for 30 years. Global supply remains tied to gas prices, which could rise as AI drives power demand, while Atome’s process is non-correlated, green and cheaper to run. 5. Beyond fertiliser – power and growth. Atome Power is the next step, combining hydro and solar for data centre-grade reliability. With multiple countries approaching to replicate the model, the team sees a copy-and-paste rollout across Latin America.
