The Parliament of Women (1656), warning about the diabolical consequences of giving women political power - because obviously it’s domineering women who pose the main threat to the world order #earlymodern

Wow, a 3,400 year-old ancient Egyptian paint box containing its original pigments! Looks similar to a modern-day set! The preserved cake pigments are red (red ochre), blue (Egyptian blue), green (a mixture of Egyptian blue, yellow ochre, and orpiment) and two of black (carbon black, from charcoal). An inscription tells us it belonged to Amenemope, Vizier during the reign of king Amenhotep II. 📷 The Cleveland Museum of Art clevelandart.org/art/1914.68… #Archaeology

Can our followers help our friends in Buckinghamshire?
We've had this mysterious pole in the archive for years now and we've still got no clue what it is. So, once again, we are turning to you for help. It's a bamboo pole about 10ft long (staff member for scale), with a flexible pair of tongs attached to the end. Any ideas?

Norman Heatley made use of any available vessel to grow penicillin. The lab was home to stacked biscuit tins, pie dishes and bed pans 👀 The biscuit tins risk sadness comparable to opening a biscuit tin at Christmas only to find sewing supplies… #OxfordScience #MedicalHistory

Delighted to see a rare fresco depicting C3PO as a disc-thrower on the BBC last night. Bit surprised @pompei79 didn’t mention it, tbh
