Thanks so much to @EricsRambles for finding this great graphic I put together 2 years ago. Haven't been able to locate it for quite some time to fulfill requests. Downloaded it. Sent it to 3 people who asked for it. Anyone else feel free to use it! A good one! @StreetsblogNYC

Helmets can have a part to play, but bicycle safety is largely dependent on having a proper safety system and safe infrastructure.
This is so important for Americans to understand.

Make it easy for tons of people to ride bikes, and tons of people will choose to ride bikes. e.g. transformation in Paris

“We could never do THAT in OUR city!” Leadership doesn’t make excuses. Via our Urban Truth Collective. #UrbanTruth For decades I’ve been talking about what I call “the 8 most unhelpful words in the English language — we could never do THAT in OUR city!” It’s critically important for us to call out the difference between energy and excuse. The Urban Truth Collective will be doing an ongoing series showing inspiring city action that we SHOULDN’T BE MAKING ANY EXCUSES ABOUT. urbantruthcollective.com/con…

Copenhagen puts all UK cities to shame.

We need to stop building communities as if everyone was 30 years old and athletic. We must create AAA cities: for All Ages & Abilities. E-tricycles are a great mobility option for many who don't feel safe on a bicycle. Enjoyed seeing these when working in PEI. Olders having fun.

It's the neighbourhood, stupid! That’s where community happens. What if we applied Ireland’s policy stack to a single street? You’d get less space for cars and more for people. Safer walking. Better public transport. Greenery woven in. More reasons to stop, chat, belong. Policy only matters if it shows up on your street. Source: linkedin.com/posts/eimearfox…

Enjoy getting around by bike to save money. 🙂
“Gas prices? What gas prices?” Even without illegal wars, the thing about car dependency is that once you’re dependent, they can do whatever they want with the prices. Real freedom is choices. Better cities create choices. Graphic via Urban Truth Collective: urbantruthcollective.com/

This felt different... We rode across Copenhagen, on a bridge made only for bikes... The Bicycle Snake. No noise. No stress. Just movement and a view you don’t usually get. And for a moment... everything felt… simple.

Imagine if we invested even just 1% as much in bike infrastructure as we do in cars.

“A city’s creativity doesn’t depend on cars. That’s the 20th century. We’re in the 21st.”— Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. No matter what happens in the Paris election, the world’s cities owe Mayor Hidalgo a huge debt of gratitude. The boldest, most inspiring mayor I’ve seen. ft.com/content/8fbad76c-6705…

A reminder that Mayor Anne Hidalgo will go down as one of the most consequential mayors of the modern time: a mayor who literally built 600 miles of bike lanes and made hundreds of streets car free in her 12 years as Paris mayor. Bravo.
