Every act of gun violence leaves a lasting impact on victims, families, friends, and entire communities.
During National Gun Violence Awareness Month, we stand with those affected by violence, honor the lives that have been lost, and recognize the strength of survivors. We also reaffirm our commitment to seeking justice, supporting victims, and working alongside our community partners to promote safety and prevention.
FACT: Orange is the color of the gun violence prevention movement, chosen in honor of Hadiya Pendleton, a Chicago teenager whose life was tragically cut short by gun violence. The color also reflects the blaze orange worn for safety, symbolizing the value of life and the importance of protecting our communities.
