Notre Dame will be assured of making the playoff if it is ranked in the top 12 starting next year, Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua told Yahoo Sports' @RossDellenger.
If the playoff is expanded to 14 teams and there are more at-large berths added to the field (from seven to nine), Notre Dame is guaranteed into the field if it is ranked No. 13 or better, according to a memorandum signed by CFP officials last spring.

As someone who loves social media, I can confidently say the world would be better off if it never existed.
People have never hated people they’ve never met more than they do right now.
Politicians wouldn’t be able to preach division to the masses the way they do now.
The majority of ppl are tired of hate and division but the minority of ppl (politicians, news media outlets) are the loudest and try to manipulate ppl into hating each other.
I’ll continue to try and spread as much positivity on my pages much as possible.
