proyecto de ley lleva ese nombre en honor a Ryder, un caballo de carruaje de avanzada edad que colapsó en agosto de 2022 en una calurosa calle de Manhattan debido al agotamiento físico. Las imágenes del animal desplomado en el asfalto mientras su dueño le gritaba y lo golpeaba para que se levantara se volvieron virales, desatando una enorme indignación pública. A horse pulling a carriage in New York City’s Central Park collapsed and died Tuesday evening near Strawberry Fields, according to witnesses and animal welfare advocates. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m., with the horse reportedly dying minutes after collapsing.
The death comes just days before supporters of Ryder’s Law are set to rally at City Hall in support of legislation that would phase out the city’s horse-drawn carriage industry. The bill is named after Ryder, a carriage horse that collapsed while working in Manhattan in 2022 and later died from his injuries.

CCTV shows the moment a dying puppy was abandoned outside a kennel by a mystery woman.
The RSPCA have launched an appeal to find the person – dressed all in black – after the pooch, named Hobi, died despite vets efforts to save him.
Footage showed the woman the woman left the four-month-old lurcher-cross for dead outside Woodhaven Kennels, in South Milford, near Leeds.
Hobi was rushed to the vets by the kennel owner but sadly couldn’t be saved.
The dog was left outside the kennel at 7pm – two hours after it shuts – on May 6.
He suffered dehydration, a head injury and blood coming from one ear with a body condition score rated just one out of five by vets.
