Thank you to all of you who visited our stand on Saturday at #DevonCountyShow! Another fun day talking to people about careers in social care. Loads of children coloured a leaf for our Aspiration tree. By the end of day 3 it was really full with all those future aspirations. We also took some wonderful pictures ā and what a team!
ALT 6 pictures taken throughout day 3 of the aspiration tree on the Social Care stand at the Devon County Show. One with a child sticking a leaf to the tree with help from a team member. One highlights how full the tree looks with one of the team using there arms to highlight it. There is also a picture of the three team members at the show on Saturday.
This week is #DementiaActionWeek and this year it's all about diagnosis with @alzheimerssoc
campaigning hard to raise awareness of this issue. Remember, everyone's journey is different but if you are worried about yourself or someone you love there is info and support out thereš
1 in 3 people with dementia are living without a vital diagnosis that could give them the right treatment and support.
If youāre worried about dementia, know what to look out for using our symptom checklist š spkl.io/60144NaxE#DementiaActionWeek

Just living daily life can be challenging for many people with long-term health conditions. So adding exercise into the mix can often feel near impossible.
We hope these stories inspire others to try taking #MomentsforMovement: bit.ly/4dx9pcm
ALT āItās good to get the body moving. Itās an achievement. It might not be a big achievement for some people, but it is for me. Simply by being able to do it.āāÆ
Dave, 55, lives with chronic arthritis and other health conditions which affect his mental health. Cold-water therapy and short walks, when he can, helps him cope.āÆ
ALT āSome days it is a struggle to get out of bed and you just know itās a bad day, so you have to work what to do to get through it. For me, thatās the cold tub, or a walk on the dog with the beach. But itās a balance, some days Iāll walk too far, and pay for it that night because the pain is too much to sleep.āÆ
But itās a trade-off. Itās going to get worse and my mental health will suffer if I donāt move, so I have to move.āāÆ
ALT āEven though itās hard sometimes, and I maybe end up hypo (low blood sugars), and occasionally crying in the kitchen eating jelly babies, I think not moving would make things worse, both mentally and physically.ā
Christina lives with Type 1 Diabetes, and seven other auto-immune conditions. While this makes exercise difficult, she finds itās essential to support her mental and physical health.āÆ
ALT āI couldnāt manage my mental health without exercising. I ran a 10k a few years ago and the feel-good hormones after running are the best! Sadly, Iāve now got osteoarthritis in my knee now so canāt run. But Iām walking and using the cross-trainer, and strength training. Iām also a big fan of some Yin Yoga.ā

ALT Purple graphic with the text: Use the time you spend waiting to move more. Waiting for the kettle to boil; for your children to come out of school; for a bus to arrive; or for a delivery. These moments can add up ā and so will your movement!
ALT Purple graphic with the text: Get more from the movement youāre
doing already. Often, we do a lot of movement without realising, for example, housework, grocery shopping, and walking to work. Recognise when youāre moving ā and celebrate your moments for movement, big and small.
ALT Purple graphic with the text: Try something new and fun! This week when youāre finding moments for movement, why not try something new? Opening yourself to new experiences can boost your mental health.
ALT Purple graphic with the text: Get outside and enjoy nature. Nature can also boost your mental health. So if you can, try to take your movement outside and enjoy the benefits of green spaces.

Check your skin. A new mole or a change in an existing mole may be signs of melanoma skin cancer.
Melanomas can appear anywhere on your body, but they're more common in areas that are often exposed to the sun.
