Kalau ada kesempatan, belajarlah. Kalau bsa cari beasiswa di LN, pergilah. Belajar menahan lapar utk menumbuhkan empati. Belajar bersuara utk berpikir kritis. Belajar mjd minoritas agar lapang dadamu tuk menerima perbedaan.

Masyarakat Adat menjaga sekitar 80% ekosistem terbaik dunia. Kapasitasnya tak perlu diragukan: menjaga hutan, menanam, hingga merawat sumber mata air.

Selamat #HariTaniNasional Indonesia. Our dependable smallholder farmers, growers and fisherfolks are at crux of various structural, intersectional, social and ecological issues. Today, some leave their lands and march.

Interesting parallel to some of what’s happening in Indonesia now. Though the various grassroots, academia, movements and unions factions of the latter are still determining (consolidating?) their boundaries and relations to one another.
EXCLUSIVE: A group of around two dozen grassroots organisers has launched a surprise bid to lead the new leftwing party, provisionally called Your Party, after a public spat broke out between co-founders Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn. The group, calling itself Our Party, is drawn from the trade union, tenants’ union, anti-racist and pro-Palestine movements, as well as local Your Party groups. Among them are renters’ union organiser Josh Virasami and Palestine solidarity organiser Jeanine Hourani. Our Party's petition, which it is calling on members of the public to co-sign, demands that the six Independent Alliance (IA) MPs – including Sultana, Corbyn and the four “Gaza independents” – step back from the leadership and allow members to take over. “The MPs got us this far, but now it's time to hand over the reins,” the group said in a statement. “The people should take things forward from here.” “A mass party is nothing until it belongs to the masses,” they added. The group demands that the leadership of the party be given to a handover committee, including a trade union general secretary, a social movement lawyer and a representative from the climate movement, whose names will be confirmed next week. Infighting broke out within the new left party this week when an email was sent out to the more than 800,000 people who had registered their interest with the party, inviting them to sign up to join. Corbyn released a statement saying that the email was “unauthorised” and that “legal advice is being taken”. Sultana later claimed she had acted unilaterally “after being sidelined” by the other IA group members, saying she was the victim of a “sexist boys’ club”. “We watch with frustration and disappointment the public divisions within the steering group, whose process for constructive resolution has clearly broken down,” Our Party said in its statement. “The opportunity to build a new mass party truly of the people is quite possibly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Far too much is at stake. We cannot waste it.”

Thank you for the discussions, networks built. I cherished the chance to learn and unlearn the weaving of the Lomandra longifolia (hope I got it right!) through the decolonising workshop over at MSDI @MonashUni
It’s a wrap! The 9th #NESTconference brought together 100 ECRs across three continents for critical discussions on inequality and sustainability transitions. Thank you to the host institutions @StellenboschUni, @MonashUni, and @HiInnlandet!

This is an interesting thread. Sovereignity - economically, personally, financially, education - as an act of resistance. The question is, how wide does a community need to do it to create a significant societal & political impact?
Kalo anda tidak punya channel aspirasi, cara paling gampang menghukum pemerintah lewat metricsnya: - hidup se-frugal mungkin - belanja di toko kelontong/pasar tradisional yang 99.9% gabayar pajak - minimalisir tabungan rupiah, beli valas / treasury bond Ripple effectnya juos

It is great to connect with Prof @AdeniyiAsiyanbi and be inspired by him and his plenary session. There is absolutely more scope for narratives in other parts of the world, like Southeast Asia, which is facing increasing ecological challenges.

Replying to @anweshadatta
Kicking off the session, @AdeniyiAsiyanbi says that the field of political ecology has moved somewhat away from Northern-dominated origins, but there is is more scope for more inclusive practices & conceptions of human-environment relations.

It was an honor to be invited to @SarahTiffinUK’s the Ambassador’s residence as part of the ASEAS 2023 conference attendee and an enriching experience to be connected with other Southeast Asian studies scholars.
Thoroughly enjoyed meeting academics from the @UKASEAS conference over dinner – great discussions, and a real buzz around Southeast Asia studies in the 🇬🇧 #UKASEAN
