I am a signatory to this letter. Open, fully informed and unbiased public hearings are required, supported by due diligence and meaningful analysis. The public cannot be expected to provide informed feedback when neither the proposal nor its impacts have been properly presented. Forgive us for being suspicious, but all we have so far is a process the Province deliberately rushed into place to cut Torontonians out, and a federal consultation process built around a survey that reflects neither the complexity of the issue nor the information needed to properly evaluate it.

Pride is a promise — that every Canadian can live safely, openly, and proudly as themselves. On the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, we recommit ourselves to fight for the dignity, security, and equal rights of 2SLGBTQIA people in Canada and around the world.

My favourite opera and aria.
100 years of Nessun dorma. One of the most famous arias in opera which has forever been immortalised by Luciano Pavarotti. ✨ Turandot was written by Giacomo Puccini and was his final opera, left unfinished at his death in 1924 and later completed by Franco Alfano.

Construction is now underway on the David Crombie Park Revitalization, a major public realm project set to renew a 1.6ha linear green space in Toronto’s St Lawrence neighbourhood. Extending from Lower Jarvis Street to Parliament Street, the long-established park is being drastically reimagined. urbantoronto.ca/news/2026/04…

Canada's team is for everyone. So is our performance centre. We've partnered with the City of Toronto to announce plans to develop the team’s first dedicated performance centre in downtown Toronto. The purpose-built facility will serve as not only a high-performance training home for the Tempo, but also a hub for grassroots engagement, investing in both elite athlete development and community access to sport.   Scheduled to open in 2028, located just steps from Coca-Cola Coliseum, the facility will feature two WNBA regulation courts, state-of-the-art player amenities, and thoughtfully designed locker rooms equipped with every resource world-class athletes need to train, recover and prepare for championship-calibre play. Read more on our performance centre at the link in bio.

Wow, stunning.
Miami Beach unveiled their relocated rainbow crosswalk this morning. It’s now in city-owned Lummus Park just feet from the original location (Ocean Drive & 12 St) where the state had it removed last year

I saw Carmen at the Verona arena in 2006. It was hella uncomfortable sitting on bare stone for three hours but man was it an amazing experience that I will never forget.
Stunning. They’ve gathered here for hundreds of years. This time for the Olympics Closing Ceremony.

You are 100% right. And, no, Canada is NOT 'poorer' than Alabama. Here's my explainer for @irpp Policy Options: policyoptions.irpp.org/2025/… #canlab #cdnecon

GDP/capita is one of the worst metrics to gauge actually important things about people's lives. There, I said it.

Black Public Joy by @Jay_Pitter is finally out and I’ve got my copy! The book frames public joy as civic, cultural and spatial infrastructure and Toronto Life calls it an “instruction manual for joy.” I can’t wait to dig in & neither should you! penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/…

‘Cancel’ comes from a Latin word meaning “to make like a lattice.” When people needed to annul or void a document, they sometimes would mark it with crosshatches XXXXX which resembled a lattice. So the document became ‘canceled.’ ...we hope this post doesn’t get us that.

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: - It’s ‘voilà,’ not ‘wallah!’ - It’s ‘a lot,’ not ‘alot.’ - It’s ‘further ado,’ not ‘farther adieu.’ - It’s ‘flesh out,’ not ‘flush out.’ - It’s ‘sneak peek,’ not ‘sneak peak.’ No worries if not!!!

Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries: “It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones. “There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion. “If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the ‘medicine closet’ and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That’s why you should always have a nutrition choice! “Those who buy only one book, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to books, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love books know that a book is anything but a commodity.”
